Read Ruth Dudley Edwards, Hec, as she was like you, before she actually met and knew orange and loyalist people.
.............
I grew up in Scotland, not divided Belfast or Derry, I lived, worked, drank with all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Glasgow not divided, aye ok then lol
I grew up in a mixed area north of belfast and always worked, lived and partied with people from all backgrounds.
Half my family is catholic, so this bigot charge about loyalists or those at orange walks is stereotyping tripe.

I wonder where the crossover is in religion? They all start off preaching be nice then descend into hatred of anyone not believing the same. 🤦♂️
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good question.
Personally, i have a faith in God, but do not preach or judge others for not believing or being different.
Therefore, i can accept other, and do not want everyone to be Protestant, but some do, or want the world to be catholic or muslim or hindu or athiest.
Man ruins religion, imo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah, religion ruins men
Take religion out of the equation and problems the world over dry up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not religious myself but still you know an Irish Catholic.
There are a lot of good people in religion that do a lot of good things.
It's when idiots use it as an excuse to wage war or like the Taliban subjugate women that it becomes a problem
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's hundreds of examples the world over, including in developed countries and I'd bet less charitable good is done by the church, than outside of it.
Imagine all that wealth those religions have hoarded away, and the actual good it could do globally.
In the middle East in particular, a complete collapse of religion would pretty much end most of the troubles there

So I could join? Of course not.
I've not issue with your little club and the good deeds it's actual members may or may not do, but it's my opinion, that its walks attracts bigots, emboldens bigots to do bigoted things, that its antagonistic and divisive and perpetuates the blight of sectarianism in Scotland.
You can call me all the names you want tbab try abd paint me in a negative light, I got used to your rude ways a long time ago, but, again in my opinion, the orange walks are anachronistic and bring out the worst in people. Long since time they were knocked on the head.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And this
These marches can't be "peaceful" they are intended to divide and aggravate.

Why would you want to join a religous Protestant order that celebrates Britishness and the Queen?
Can i join the Catholic church or Hibernians, without converting?
Can you become an iman or rabbi?
Can you join a mosque or synogogue?
Unless you convert, so why expect you could join a Protestant order???

You had no problen singling out Protestants in Scotland.
I didn't single out anyone TBAB, I said both sides marches should be stopped.
Christianity isn't the only other religion either.
Also, I seem to remember you defending Israel for stopping a Palestinian march through their holy city, which kicked off the last round of fighting.
Weren't so pro marching then, almost seems like it only matters of it's "your side"
Marching where you are not wanted, banging drums then getting drunk and setting fire to things.. What a wonderful kkkulture sir.

Catholic church has done great thngs for billions for centuries, promoting community, education, justice etc, but as humans, some abused there power.
This is why i do not hate and see good in all.
There are bad catholics, but to lump all together and tar with one brush, as some are doing with loyalists, is being a bigot.

In the middle East in particular, a complete collapse of religion would pretty much end most of the troubles there
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not arguing with you and believe me the Catholic Church has a lot to answer for regarding what it has done over here.
Just making the point that it also has some good points. If someone can take a few minutes of quiet reflection in a church and feel better for it then that is a good thing.
Wouldn't bother me though if it disappears tomorrow
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is a good thing, but there are plenty of alternatives that don't preach hatred of the other, or abuse children, sow division or commit the atrocities being unearthed in Canada.
Like you said, it's the 21st century, we can do better
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Catholic church has done great thngs for billions for centuries, promoting community, education, justice etc, but as humans, some abused there power.
This is why i do not hate and see good in all.
There are bad catholics, but to lump all together and tar with one brush, as some are doing with loyalists, is being a bigot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Great things
For their own kind
Terrible and reprehensible things to "the other" and that's why religion is an issie

Nah, religion ruins men
Take religion out of the equation and problems the world over dry up.

Not religious myself but still you know an Irish Catholic.
There are a lot of good people in religion that do a lot of good things.
It's when idiots use it as an excuse to wage war or like the Taliban subjugate women that it becomes a problem

People love to divide themselves from other on some dogma even if it isn't religion
Look at the nonsense debate around trans, so much demonisation of each side to the other I darent even have an opinion

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Narrow minded view of other.
You do not like them, so ban them or stop them.
Cancel culture lol
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There are plenty of examples of deliberate attempts to aggravate others being banned, have a fackin street party instead to celebrate your culture.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Today will be a street party in Glasgow, as it was on the 12th here 2 months ago.
You are making assumptions about people you do not like, accusing them of going out to cause aggro.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And I was talking about the Marches, which are a deliberate provocation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Marching through areas home to people you know have an issue with your "culture" (as you put it..) being as loud as possible, and attempting to rub your "Culture" in their face isn't deliberately provocative?
Fack me
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So Glasgow march is going to Celtic park or into catholics areas, and not walking in the centre of town?
Most marches are in their own areas, or town and city centres, but as Glasgow is mixed, like Belfast, they will pass all faiths and none.
Where would you recommend they hold street parties?

Read Ruth Dudley Edwards, Hec, as she was like you, before she actually met and knew orange and loyalist people.
.............
I grew up in Scotland, not divided Belfast or Derry, I lived, worked, drank with all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Glasgow not divided, aye ok then lol
I grew up in a mixed area north of belfast and always worked, lived and partied with people from all backgrounds.
Half my family is catholic, so this bigot charge about loyalists or those at orange walks is stereotyping tripe.

I'm not talking strictly about Islamism, there are far more than just Islamists in the middle East, I'm not a bigot, I won't be singling one religion out as being the problem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you are afraid to call out the majority islamist religous influence in the ME...could you outline what the christians living in the middle east are doing that is wrong?
You had no problen singling out Protestants in Scotland.

I didn't single out anyone TBAB, I said both sides marches should be stopped.
Christianity isn't the only other religion either.
Also, I seem to remember you defending Israel for stopping a Palestinian march through their holy city, which kicked off the last round of fighting.
Weren't so pro marching then, almost seems like it only matters of it's "your side"

Marching where you are not wanted, banging drums then getting drunk and setting fire to things.. What a wonderful kkkulture sir.

People love to divide themselves from other on some dogma even if it isn't religion
Look at the nonsense debate around trans, so much demonisation of each side to the other I darent even have an opinion

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Narrow minded view of other.
You do not like them, so ban them or stop them.
Cancel culture lol
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There are plenty of examples of deliberate attempts to aggravate others being banned, have a fackin street party instead to celebrate your culture.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Today will be a street party in Glasgow, as it was on the 12th here 2 months ago.
You are making assumptions about people you do not like, accusing them of going out to cause aggro.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And I was talking about the Marches, which are a deliberate provocation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Marching through areas home to people you know have an issue with your "culture" (as you put it..) being as loud as possible, and attempting to rub your "Culture" in their face isn't deliberately provocative?
Fack me
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So Glasgow march is going to Celtic park or into catholics areas, and not walking in the centre of town?
Most marches are in their own areas, or town and city centres, but as Glasgow is mixed, like Belfast, they will pass all faiths and none.
Where would you recommend they hold street parties?
