They mostly just call them £20bags anyway

More Americanisation

Yeah I don’t like this. It’s so vague. One persons 20’s worth will be different to some else’s.

In London they mostly switched to grams for weed anyway

What was called 1/8 was actually 3grams

Know this because someone told me
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Technically, and being a pedant, 1/8 is 3.5grams. 28 grand to an ounce

Not that I know much about it like
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh yeah πŸ•΅οΈ‍♂️

I'm calling the police

First time I bought legal weed here I just bought a 3.5g jar. Got home and weighed it out of curiosity. It was 7g.
Like a guy told me in rehab, "the first ones always free".

What's a gram in imperial measurements?

Asking for a friend.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
0.0353 oz. Or 1/454th of a pound.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello mate can I have 0.0353 oz of Charlie please?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So weed smokers are imperial and Charlie for the metrics? πŸ˜‚
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only grams of weed.
3.5g=1/8 oz
7g=1/4 oz
28g=1oz
That's how they sell weed here. Guvmint and underground.

Oh, JS, how do you measure consumption of fuel in cars in the UK. Miles per litre? That just seems weird.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mpg. But fuel is sold in litres. 🀦‍♂️ I guess to look cheaper. πŸ˜‚
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you have to change miles to kms or litres to gallons. How fekin quaint. Titty might have a problem though with his 100g steak. I would call a 100g steak a bite.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like miles and gallons, we have never used grams for steak here, so I'm not sure why it's relevant.

Same here when I first started smoking it. We always had one of the three things missing, weed, tobacco or skins.

That's the point we don't have to change either of them they just work in the UK as they are, imperial for one thing, metric for the next, even closely related things.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Reminds me of the NASA guy who lost a Mars probe because he used feet in his calculations instead of metres. I know you're involved in some kind of science, but you admitted you'd have a hard time getting a 100g steak. Its just silly.

I said I have a hard time visualising what a 100g steak would look like because it's never measured in grams here. What a strange battle to pick
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m the same, 400g 500g don’t have a clue no matter how many times I order it

I'll be honest I'm only able to work out that a 100g steak is tiny because of the weed chat earlier

They “just work”.

But they “just cost” the economy a shiiiitload of money every year and “just waste” literally months of kids’ maths educations (it’s estimated in the US, where admittedly the problem is worse, that kids lose *a full year* of maths education across their schooling learning about both imperial and metric measures).

It’s Brexit in microcosmic form: wanting to continue to do something inefficient, contrary, nonsensical and ultimately to the detriment to public health and the public purse for the sake of literally nothing but tradition.

In fact, if you look at economic free-hits which any given political party could add to their manifesto to deliver baked-in benefits to the UK economy across the medium and long terms, the first on the list should probably be the completion of metrification.
