2024.
We've still got 30 months of this lot.
Has fixed term parliament act not need repealed? Not sure what that means for what rules are now.
My bad, not repealed, but doing so was in Tory manifesto
Election will happen way before 2024... I'm predicting Jeremy Hunt way lead the tories into the next one
Boundary changes come into effect in 2023 too so if this lead for Labour holds I wonder if they’ll be able to command a majority
It really is pathetic a Christmas party is what is potentially gonna bring these cretins down. Not the fact we let the virus run riot at the beginning of the pandemic and locked down late, or Cummings was defended for driving up north to test his eyesight. Or the fact Parliament was prorogued illegally. A foooking party.
NEW: Dominic Cummings says Boris Johnson got a ‘wrong-un’ pregnant in Carrie Johnson
Bet Cummings is having an affair with that woman.

You doing ok?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I actually commented on the thread last week!
And yes, I am good thank you! Just a little fed up with restrictions!
I have read that you are in Mexico? How have things been for you?
Also, last year you introduced me to HasanAbi through the thread. Been watching a little bit of his stuff from time to time. He is quite entertaining!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
BH, have you seen Benji Shapiro's rant against HasanAbi? Worth a listen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have not!
As I have never heard him say anything worth listening to!
And thats not because he is conservative - there are plenty of people I dislike who are still quite fine engage with (like for example, JP).
Still, it might be interesting looking up whatever nonsense he has said now lol!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oi!
I remember you (rather accurately) characterising me to others as a classic liberal like Shapiro!
He and others similar lose on various topics; mostly anti-vax (can’t remember if he is, don’t think he is), abortion and gun rights.
Economics and pushing back against the identity politics items I’m generally in agreement with him/others. Most of their thoughts that they espouse generally come from Thomas Sowell / Walter E Williams types.
I can appreciate that Shapiro is an annoying character but he’s no shambles, despite the small handful of examples that people can quote from the internet (vaginosis etc).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would not describe yourself as similar to Shapiro, at least not in the ways which matter to me.
Conservative (or classically liberal) yes; but you are much more interesting as an individual.
The problem with Shapiro is that he is at his core a sophist. His arguments are not made in good faith like yourself.
At his core he is most interested in winning the debate, rather than examining what is true or false. I would consider yourself (and most others) to be interested in what you find to be true.
He can be considered as a great public speaker. However, he is not someone with any meaningful or interesting ideas of his own.
You rightly say he is inspired by Sowell. However, even someone well respected like Sowell, is from what I have seen, just recycled versions of stuff already said by Hayek.
Which isn't surprising as Hayek is a massively influential figure. Even respected by many progressive economists.
Thats not to say everyone has to provide an original thought. They don't. However, I respect people who you can engage sincerely with you. Shapiro from what I can see, is simply unable to do this.

I liked his one on climate change, the one where he said something along the lines of "should sea levels rise and seafront properties become unliveable the owners can always just sell their homes"
