No one is immune to criticism. And while his views of course contain some truths they don’t fully take into account that Putin has imperialist ambitions independent of what NATO do. It’s actually naive to think had NATO stayed away from Ukraine that Putin would be happy to have a West-looking nation like Ukraine on his doorstep.

Neutralise and build it up? So a rich western looking nation on the border where Putin's Peasants can look but not touch? Yeah that sounds good.
Why is an appeaser supporting this? Putin wouldn't stand for that.

Hmm, talk now a ceasefire might be agreed.

So much for the ceasefire. Zelenzky is saying the city will fall this evening Kiev time. You gotta wonder what the mentality of the Ukrainian soldiers is when up against such superior firepower. Will they give up? Or die en masse just to delay an invasion for a few days?

"The west" has utterly failed Ukraine.. even if they come out of this largely in tact, do you think they will trust us, given we are breaking our promises to them as both a partner of NATO and our commitments made as part of their Denuclearisation.

It’s tough. I’m sure the Ukrainians are fuming at everyone but it would seem the Wests hands are tied due to Russian being a nuclear power. It’s a risk reward thing and sadly for Ukraine, to use an analogy, it’s like musical chairs. The song stopped and everyone is sat down except for them.

Not sure about this. BBC are reporting that 18,000 non-reservists have volunteered and been given weapons in Kiev.

I don’t think taking the city is going to be nearly as easy as the Russians would like.

I think we’re might end up looking at the Ukrainian people vs the Russian military

The problem Putin (or whichever puppet he tries to install if he succeeds in deposing the govt) is going to have eventually is that Ukrainians have already seen a more free and liberal life, democracy, and what integration with Europe looks like. They won’t just sit down for rule by diktat by an authoritarian from across the border.

I saw something that said if/when Ukraine falls Putin will give the choice to Ukrainians to stay and fight or be allowed to leave and live in other countries which if they take the second option will leave a country with less opposition. I wouldn’t blame Ukrainians for leaving tbf but as they are generally a proud nation I wouldn’t be surprised if many stayed
