Sorry. And which bit don’t you believe?
We can’t afford it or we haven’t paid enough?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That we can’t afford it.
Yes the billions lost to fraudulent PPE contracts could’ve been used for the NHS. PPE was NHS money in the first place was it not?
It’s easy to claim we can’t afford something bit hard to justify when we waste money left right and centre.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Billions wasted and billions fraudulently stolen. And then many billions spent wisely. We can go down the path of wastage in every single government that ever governed should we wish. I don’t for the simple reasons we can both recognise (in the main anyway) fraud and nepotism.
Those aside; Covid cost and is still costing billions and billions.
The wastage is generally down to ineptitude, yet all parties fallowed the same mantra and backed the costs associated. Waste happens when people with no experience handle vast sums of money with very little clue as to how it should be spent. That’ll never change.
All that aside we did have the opportunity to invest a lot more into the NHS, although it would have been a one off benefit. That benefit might have had a lasting effect although with wastage and mismanagement in the NHS I wouldn’t count on it.

What would you have expected in return bearing in mind we’ve continued to throw many billions more at the NHS with absolutely zero improvement anywhere.
======
Ginger is so full of sheet. Check out this statement when the truth is NHS performance has declined since 2010 as a result of much lower funding increases, limited funds for capital investment, and neglect of workforce planning. of the 2010s, deficits in NHS trusts became widespread by 2014 and the NHS failed to hit key waiting time targets in 2014 and the following years.
Is this what you mean by "we’ve continued to throw many billions more at the NHS with absolutely zero improvement anywhere."

Look, I’m not going to argue that he’s not ultimately responsible. He is. It goes with the territory.
What I’m saying is that even with his experience, he’s probably better equipped but certainly not expert in managing funds for a public non profit making body.
There are legions (growing by the minute) of advisers and so called experts that do the donkey work.
Bottom line of you prefer is that this government is wholly inept at practically everything it does or has tried. Yes it’s been hampered by inflationary pressures outside its control and by the pandemic; but we should be doing far better that this.
There.

Indeed. The proof (or lack of) will be in the pudding. As much as I know and work with huge organisations, there’s always significant wastage and/or subsequent costs you didn’t foresee, far less calculate.
Then there’s practically no application of the succeed/fail parameters put in place before you embark on any significant spend. Basic stuff.
And I’m in a good mood right
Even with PFI’s the NHS was far better run under Labour than this or any other Tory government I can remember.

“ Waste happens when people with no experience handle vast sums of money with very little clue as to how it should be spent. That’ll never change.”
The Chancellor at the time, now PM, is worth how much and comes from a background in which sector? Then again working for Goldman Sachs you aren’t used to handling lots of money
Come on now Ginge be sensible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not necessarily in the public sector for the general public I’d suggest.
Looking after investment for corporate clients and funds is entirely different and has completely different goals. Public sectors are not targeted on making money for a start.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s a multi billionaire who used to work for Goldman Sachs and has a career in handling lots of money. In what way is he not used to handling lots of money?
Ah the goal posts have now changed to handling public money now, fair enough
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not changed the goal posts at all. I’ve acknowledged he is used to handling vast sums of money. But for an entirely different set of agenda.
If you think running GS is the same as running a governmental department that’s supposed to serve the general populace then so be it. I can’t really argue with that

He’s better equipped than most no?
You attributed wasted money on inexperience of those dishing it out. Mate the man in charge of doing so has made a career of the back of money. Saying he’s not used to it because it’s public and not private is no excuse.

What would you have expected in return bearing in mind we’ve continued to throw many billions more at the NHS with absolutely zero improvement anywhere.
======
This is how Tory logic works.

How much have PFIs cost the NHS Mambinator?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have a point to make then kindly proceed to do so.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just highlighting a glaring obvious cost to the NHS which you very notably missed out. But you knew that already as you are an incredibly intelligent individual.

There.
I’m in a good mood today even though it’s my last day of this holiday.

This is why Tories must go. Not only are they experts at looking after private investment for their corporate friends, clients and funds, they are also experts at looking after the private sector for their corporate friends, clients and funds.

Ginge
Last word on this. You also seem to claim that billions lost was down to incompetence or ineptitude when we don’t know that and there is suspicion of fraud on a huge scale. This is all yet to come out. May well be that the people who are supposedly inept were more competent than you think.
Anyway sorry you’re in a bad mood. Enjoy your last day mate

I didn't miss anything out. I said what I wanted to say.
You've now made two unnecessary posts when you could have just made your point.
