Not a fan of these types of protests. It will encourage some nutjob with a bottle of acid to “be a hero”

Far rather he loses his 8th election

Agreed, probably attract a few sympathy votes if anything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I doubt it re the votes, but the whole throwing stuff at people running for office is pathetic.

As mentioned above let’s hope no other idiot tries to go one better next time on him or anyone else.

It is holiday. Teachers like to pretend it isn't as they might have to work one day every once in a while, but it's mostly free.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's levels to the game in every profession and teaching is no different. Some are better at their jobs than others and it's mostly down to extra effort and commitment. That time can be used to prepare for the school term ahead and improve themselves professionally to be better teachers, but others can opt to sit on their ass and only start working when the school term opens.

Also, people lavish doctors, nurses, police even firemen with praise for being heroes and I feel teachers are left behind a bit. In my experience, they often go over and above the call of duty in looking after our children. People underestimate the workload too. They're always on call, even after the kids have gone home, always available for parents and their children and it's not easy. Teachers really are like a 2nd parent as they even notice things a parent isn't noticing and advise accordingly.

I don't know how it is in your neck of the woods but in my experience most teachers are great servants that deserve every penny they get as some services cannot ever be seen as sufficiently remunerated. I know many teachers and even me own cousin is a teacher.

As much as I despise Farage, that is scary for anyone really. That someone can get that close and throw a liquid in someone's face it's very frightening

I think Emily Hewertson is too well known to have tried that, I think she's been on GB news so there would be Farage fans who might recognise her

So you're saying that my mother and my sister in law aren't good or committed to their jobs because they spent the last half term on holiday with me instead of working?

No one is suggesting they don't deserve more pay or that they shouldn't be praised, but trying to pretend that they don't get more holidays than everyone else is such a stupid argument. Their holiday allowance is incredible and it is one of the perks of the job.

As others have pointed out, they work longer days for the rest of the year with a significant workload which isn't factored in to this 12 week holiday logic. Perhaps Saying they get a long holiday in response or justification to a point made about their lower remuneration is what's actual stoopid.

It's not impossible. I don't know them so I can't judge. The teachers I know don't seem to have that much time even when school is out. Some are more articulate than others. That's just a fact of life.

I grew up in a family where both my grandad and my mum were teachers. If they didn't have time in the school holidays, it wasn't because of teaching work.

I'd suggest the teachers you know are either boring (quite common with teachers as they just love talking about teaching with other teachers), not very good at managing their time / workload or are lying to avoid spending time around you.

I grew up in a family where my dad was a teacher, and several uncles and aunties were. My sister is now a teacher. The workloads and strain on teachers now are significantly higher than they were when my dad, and dare I say your mum and grandad, were teachers.
