I feel like I'm being Gaslit today.

I'm amazingly happy to see a labour government, of course I am, but this isn't the masterstroke of Keir that it seems to be being trumpeted as is it? He and radio presenters talk about how Keir has "made them electable again by moving to the centre right..

They got less 500k less votes than 2019 and 3 MILLION less votes than 2017.

What has dictated this election is:

1) Nigel farage taking his revenge on the conservatives for them continually blocking him from joining their ranks

2) Voter apathy as the quality of the main candidates has lessened, they are almost all uninspiring (except Ed Davey) and people feel less represented leading to a significantly lower turnout (3rd lowest in 100 years)

3) the complete and utter moral bankruptcy of the conservatives causing their votes to collapse 20%

Keir won power in the labour party by making pledges he never intended to keep, and he won this election by just staying quiet and letting the conservatives make endless mistakes. Yet he's being hailed as a revolutionary genius.

Their vote share went up 1.7% and their seats doubled, it's the least representative parliament we will ever have seen, with 1 in 4 of the electorate voting for a party who for all intents and purposes wield 100% of the power.

I'm so sorry glad the conservatives have gone, but I feel so Gaslit by the commentary, Keir should be acknowledging labour have lost votes due to his purge of the left and that voter apathy has risen and needs addressing.

Instead he's being led in to complacency as everyone fawns over the results 🤷🏼‍♂️

Apparently this election was the least amount of time Labour had ever spent canvassing, but they didn’t have to

Hopefully a blessing and gave them time to just concentrate on what they’re going to do, Starmer’s known for months when he’s taking over so he hopefully will have planned accordingly

He made an absolute meal of the fact that he’d “changed the Labour Party” in his speech this morning as well.

Repeated it about four times.

I know.. it's driving me nuts.

He wants to restore trust and faith in politics but he's spinning these results rather than facing them down.

Hopefully he does a great job whilst he has hold of the reigns of power because I can't see these divisions on the right being present at the next election, and a respectable Tory leader will take their own centre right supporters back, with Keir no longer having a centre left to rely on

I would take the person leading the country being boring as fack if it meant being able to get a doctors or hospital appointment in a decent amount of time.

Why the need to be entertained or amused by politicians . We've got to the point where people like Oscar etc will excuse or ignore Farage/Trump being racist because they told a funny joke after.

Whilst, it is true there are less votes - Keir Starmer's Labour have a much wider appeal across the UK, which translates to more seats. Also, Corbyn was arguably so divisive that he drove voters away to the Conservatives.

The other thing I would say is that this election has been fantastic for independents and smaller parties (besides the SNP). The Greens quadrupled their seats!

It’s hardly a master stroke, but it’s certainly true that he’s made them electable again. Now whether that means we’ll see the meaningful change many would like to see is a different debate.

Oscar is mentally handicapped isn’t he
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s hilarious, yet depressing, that there are so many like him in the UK. It’s no wonder the country is in an absolute state when people like this are voting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oscar is weird compared to most Brits tbh. Look how much he fawns over Trump, in spite the man being a creepy diddler.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbf that’s quite a few idiots like this cropping up in England nowadays.

America’s cultural imperialism has had a really negative impact on the right of the political spectrum.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whereas it’s done great things on the left of the political spectrum?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t think it has anywhere near the same impact because America’s a very right wing country, especially economically.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The social impact has been huge mate. Look at all the topics that have arisen in recent years, all the protests, all the screaming, all the twisted social theories experimented on us. The place is a fking playground filled with lunatics and other than being subservient to them economically, we really should have anything to do with importing their cultures.

Bamber Bridge - we were teaching those idiots about right and wrong with regards to race back in WW2 and led the abolition of slavery around the developed world. Yet when an unarmed black man was murdered by American police we import all of the protests, the damage to property and the bs left wing critical race theory nonsense during a pandemic!
