I've always thought the majority of people vehemently against it are people who are worried about 'accidentally' being attracted to someone transgender.
It's the same type of person who thinks that because someone is gay, they probably fancy them.

Sounds so simple but the reality for her was years of self-loathing, fear of being 'discovered' and what it would mean for her work and life, fear of rejection from her parents and then, when she eventually did then them, actual rejection from her father. Regular bouts of depression and, at the lowest point, a suicide attempt.
She's in a good place now but bloody hell, she's had a rough life. And a large part of the fear and depression is brought about by the attitudes of people she doesn't know and will never know.
Why people feel they have a right to an opinion on someone trying to peacefully live their life, I will never, ever understand.

I think it's also in relation to the outdated idea that trans people are tricking and lying to you.
What's funny is they'll have to get used to wrestling with their feelings. With the science advancing all the time and people feeling more socially accepted to transition earlier, there's a lot more passing (for lack of a better word) trans people about than there were 20/30 years ago.
I daresay all of us have walked past a trans person or been in a social setting with a trans person and had absolutely no idea.

When women and girls are attacked, physically and sexxually, they are overwhelmingly attacked by spouses, partners, family members, co-workers and people otherwise known to them, and not by random perverts cosplaying as women or trans women in public bathrooms. And we don’t do nearly enough to a) stop the former from happening, b) help women when it does happen, and c) bring perpetrators to justice.

Always thought the concept of deterrent is utter balls tbh.
Two decent sized nukes means a nuclear winter and the people who launched them would die anyway.

As with the argument about protecting kids, if the hard right really wanted to see a concerted effort made to protect women, it would be advocating for a huge investment in law enforcement and supporting services specifically targeted at sexxual and domestic violence, stalking and harassment of women; a 100% reversal in cuts to the courts; and changes in law designed specifically to fast-track prosecutions of raape and domestic violence cases and secure far more convictions.
When women and girls are attacked, physically and sexxually, they are overwhelmingly attacked by spouses, partners, family members, co-workers and people otherwise known to them, and not by random perverts cosplaying as women or trans women in public bathrooms. And we don’t do nearly enough to a) stop the former from happening, b) help women when it does happen, and c) bring perpetrators to justice.
