Rightly or wrongly I feel the world needs Elon Musk.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Please explain
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He dreams big and makes things happen at the forefront of technological advances. It’s widely regarded as only a matter of time until we have to settle space in some way. Things like brain chips I find fascinating too, the applications could be immense.

I don’t have Twitter these days, so none of that shiiiiiiit bothers me, and Trump and whoever else behind him would still be there regardless.

Dana White is an influential voice and is extremely vocal in backing Trump, no-one cares.

Joe Rogan is extremely influential and I found the things he has said about vaccines dangerous, in an actual tangible way too. No-one cares.

I think saying Elon Musk is the most dangerous voice in US politics is a bit daft personally.

White and Rogan are both prikks, and Rogan is also dangerous in his own right; but neither controls the Twitter newsfeeds of over 100 million Americans.

No, but I could say the same for who controls the tabloids here.

If people want to get their information from Twitter, then there’s not much hope for them anyway. Furthermore Musk is completely allowed to do this and the only reason you think he’s dangerous is because he supports Trump. That doesn’t make him the most dangerous voice in American politics, it’s makes him a media mogul, and there’s always been those influencing politics.

I’m pretty sure the Mail and Telegraph LOSE money for example. There’s only one reason their owners continue to run that publication. Are they the most dangerous people in our politics.

Musk is a little cringe to people outside his fan base - somehow, he even manages to make Zuckerberg seem more human and normal.

And of course, Musk would advocate Trump, he loves tax cuts and trans hating more than environment. These days he is culture warrior who needs to touch grass.

Well firstly, Trump and his programme are infinitely more dangerous to American citizens and the wider world than the people the British media moguls habitually try to get elected. I think you know that I am no fan of the Tories, to put it mildly; but there is no comparison between Sunak and his cabal and Trump.

Secondly, yes, I would argue that, for example, Gary Jones and the Rothermeres are amongst the most dangerous people in Britain, full stop.

Twitter was fine when it was run by left wing ideologues but now that Musk owns it all of a sudden it’s the apocalypse….

Haha maybe!

I’d say the most dangerous thing in America is its actual people.

The “‘Murica, fvck yeah!” crew who don’t give a sh!t about anything other than themselves, being able to do whatever they want, God and guns.

I don’t align with Musk’s political views, but I stand by the work he does being important to all of us.

I also suspect there are far more insidious, but lower profile, characters out there who are more of a danger.

Those people get their views from somewhere though. Obviously not exclusively the media; from parents, friends, colleagues, literature, etc. But there’s no doubting the huge influence social media has.

There have been numerous studies on the kinds of content which have a) been allowed to stay up on Twitter, and b) been amplified before and after Musk’s takeover. There’s (a lot) more violent video content now; there’s more hate speech; there’s more neo-Nazzi, white supremacist, antisemitic and other forms of racist content staying up, and even published and promoted by ‘blue ticked’ accounts.

Some will argue that Musk should be free to allow and promote violent, racist and threatening content on his platform. Whether he should or otherwise, I don’t think the world is a better place for it.

Musk is the most dangerous voice in USA politics. Him buying twitter was literally for the purpose of controlling the political narrative
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He builds sustainable transport.

How is he dangerousis it because he’s not a liberal 😆
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because he’s almost uniquely positioned to get Trump elected.

And let’s not pretend that Musk gives one singular fack about the environment. He’s just endorsed a presidential candidate who single-handedly devastated US territorial environment protections in his first term, who recently claimed (again) that MMCC is a hoax, who unilaterally pulled out of the Paris accord doing irreversible damage, and who has said that he’ll do the same once again if re-elected.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It worked the other way when the other lot ran Twitter.

You can’t have it both ways.

Don’t worry though Facebook are still very liberal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What did?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The political narrative
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it didn't. The way it's going now is more probable to lead to a disaster.

My guess is that people had a problem with people they sympathise with being banned for breaking rules. These same people post on a forum they can be banned from if they break the house rules, or have their handle changed to 'Whiny and Easily Offended' if they complain too much.

Twitter will never be fine because not all humans are fine. This is of no surprise to anyone yet you act surprised when a tiny number of people act like filthy disgusting beings.

Difference is I would rather see and hear what people are thinking rather than having someone pick and choose what content is shared in what is supposed to be global public forum.

I want some detail beyond a dismissive "Google it"

They banned Trump after the election because he was using the platform to incite insurrection, I'm not certain that was the right decision or if social media companies should have that power but I understand why they did it

What else did they do?

Yet Trump utilised it to spread bile, lies, mid/disinformation and racist rhetoric to win the presidency during the halcyon left wing ideologue years. It only took Trump urging supporters to storm the capitol for Twitter to ban him,and that was even after two days deliberation.

Why are you honing in on one user? The President of all people.

What he did or did not get away with is hardly a reasonable example of what the global public are subjected to rules-wise (both now and under the previous regime).

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2022/12/15/23505370/twitter-files-elon-musk-taibbi-weiss-covid

Here’s a source that you won’t likely moan about. Have a read.

People like Rosso crying about the Musk regime of X when perfectly happy with the previous regime just demonstrates his blind ideology, which is what I find hilarious.
