He, was at the game, albeit sitting in the Hibs section cause a mate had tickets and I saw that, fair play

Fair play mate, I've done that too many times myself, cousins all leith hibby's. It's not easy when hibs are mince, sitting beside relatives that, momentarily, want to kill you for merely smiling..

Ahead of the cabinet vote, Israel's attorney general warned ministers that Netanyahu's decree allowing him to handpick the next civil service commissioner is illegal and should not proceed. They approved his proposal unanimously.

Why is she unlikeable? I keep seeing people say this but no one ever gives a reason.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have no opinion either way, but I actually think it’s an automatic reaction by most. They see everyone else saying it so think they have to. There’s a lot of that round here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a matter of seeing how she can come off as unlikeable to some people, which is completely normal as that's just the way it is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This still isn't an answer to why she is unlikeable, which I think is a fair question. Are you able to give me an explanation of what your enlightened mind can see that I have been unable to?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I never found her likeable personally. Don't think I'll start now just because I want her to win.

Why doesn't anyone like anyone, or vice versa. Most of the time we don't even know why ourselves.

So you don't know. I always have a reason for liking or disliking someone. If I don't, then I am indifferent.

Makes sense why we've had to go round the houses to get an answer though and makes your little outburst of 'It's a matter of seeing how she can come off as unlikeable to some people' even weirder. How is anyone supposed to see it if you don't even know?

A sharp fall in demand from international students coupled with a funding crisis has left universities poised to admit more UK school-leavers who failed to make their A-level grades than ever before.

The fall in demand coincides with the introduction of a government policy preventing the partners and children of international students from accompanying them on student visas.

For India, UK universities had issued 34% fewer Confirmations of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to students in the January 2024 intake compared with the January 2023 intake, and deposits were off by 38%. For Nigeria, CAS issuance was off by 71% and deposits were 22% lower than in 2023.

Robert MacIntosh, Chair of the Chartered Association of Business Schools and Pro-Vice Chancellor for the School of Business and Law at Northumbria University said:

“These latest results show the potential for the government’s immigration policies to severely damage one of the UK’s most successful exports. The decline in international business student enrolments will limit a vital source of universities’ income which underpins the cost of teaching and research across subject areas."

(Telegraph, ICEF Monitor)

I wonder if any other recent events might have done further damage since these figures were published…

I doubt it, especially if you're coming from Nigeria, our barely one week of civil unrest is nothing compared to what goes on there

It's the crackdown on visas for dependents

We’ve had headline TV news stories here showing some of the random attacks on black and brown people in the streets. We’ve had interviews playing with British Muslims saying that they’re scared to leave their homes. And if we’ve had them here, they’ve been playing on the news across the Commonwealth, for sure.

It certainly won’t have helped matters for UK universities.

Most countries put in travel warnings whilst the riots were going on, but we are unlikely to feel the effects of that on student visas for a while. Anyone coming in September is likely to already have arrangements in place.

Students from the EU aren't coming because of Brexit, students from Nigeria and India are seeing numbers reduced because they can't bring as many dependents

If you think anyone in Nigeria is focusing on a couple of small disturbances in the UK you clearly aren't aware of what's been going on over there
