And I’ve never come across flats where charging points have been installed outside.

Maybe this issue is a big thing that discourages people from buying electric.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's the cost of replacement batteries as well. It's one of the reasons for the massive depreciation of Porsche Taycans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
some manufacturers can replace bad cells, like Mercedes and Tesla (that's what I've been told), but many others require wholesale replacement when charge hold reduces to a certain level.

Yeah, that's why many choose leasing for these types of cars to know up front how much it would cost throughout the life of the lease. Probably why the said Taycan have depreciated so much with such an amount of second hand stock. Replacement batteries aren't envisaged during the lease.

I tend to do the same.
My current one is 14 years old now, 290,000 km on the clock. Amazingly, those are mainly on school runs and trips to the shops.
Hope to keep it going as long as I can.
Most I ever got out of a car was a FIAT Tipo I got second hand and managed to keep it going until the amount of work required to pass its MOT was way more than was worth spending on it. It was 25 years old at the time, but the gov't still paid us €2000 to send it to the breakers in part-exchange for my partner's hybrid.

It’s pretty much a personal choice issue as initial costs, insurance, inconvenience and the like all have to be considered before running costs.

Yeah, that's why many choose leasing for these types of cars to know up front how much it would cost throughout the life of the lease. Probably why the said Taycan have depreciated so much with such an amount of second hand stock. Replacement batteries aren't envisaged during the lease.

Mine is leased. Bought my own a few times and never seem to time it right on sell and rebuy.
Then there’s the fact that I’m frivolous with cars at the best of times.

I drive mine until they stoop wurkin
Ownley ever had 3 cars

Me too. Excluding the wife and work I've only ever bought two cars.
