Minimum he can get in NY state for first degree murder (regardless of how he pleads) is 20 years apparently.

It’d be quite incredible to get that for a politically-motivated targeted assassination in plain daylight on the streets of NY though, wouldn’t it, regardless of how he might plead?

If you’re driven and committed enough to carry out the crime and already risk a life behind bars, I’d reckon you’re driven and committed enough to make your statement in full.

People don't have to do what they advised. The guy had a manifesto on him. There is a good chance he wants the publicity of a trial.

I think there is a good chance he wanted to be caught. What is the likelihood an intelligent guy who committed a well planned crime like that is caught just in a McDonalds 5 days later with all the incriminating evidence on him. It doesn't align with everything else about this unless he was happy to get caught.

I reckon there is a good chance we find out he is a right wing guy as more comes out anyway. Probably a Gen Z tech bro. I think all those fawning over his motives will find out that most people have little in common with his overall world view.

Much like with the Trump assassination attempts, it seems to be right wingers who suddenly feel betrayed by the system that seem to turn to this sort of thing. If it's the case again, it should make Trump's Presidency interesting as he makes a lot of Americans poorer and creates a bigger divide with his cabinet of billionaires.
