Someone said the other day we are now in a position wherein we have to continue with Mourinho, as any manager who wants to play expansive, sexy football is going to get rid of Lukaku. This club is rotten from top to bottom. I also heard today Juan Mata contract ends this summer and we have not approached him, we are wasting our efforts begging a player like Fellaini to stay at this great club. It brings a tear to my eye, ha.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Poor you

Or could it be that we’re likely to bring in Ozil, a superior player than mata. For £0

Chequebook Jose

oh unless they bought some players in before pep officially joined.

The problem is the manager. Allardyce would get more out of the players.

He's damaged goods and we know what happens in the third season.

Time to get Ancelotti in

My bad. £380 million/£400 million. Still a huge amount.

---------------

But you have a list you said.

What, did you add it up wrong?

To be fair Pep was a City manager for months before he officially joined

My list said £400 million.

I’m prepared to bow to a better listmaker in the transferleague website. Still, I’m not far off at all unless you still debate the figure

This is the key and fundamental point that likes of robb will never understand

Utd had stability with SAF. City prepared behind the scenes for pep from way back

I would rather a long term manager and a few years in the wilderness than a quick fix like mourinho, who most acknowledge is a 2/3 year thing

We need to rebuild completely and changing managers and buying Herrera's, lukakus etc will.mean big spend every couple of years with each new manager

posted on 26/12/17

And I told you, your list is wrong.

Which you have now admitted.

Pep has spent £380m according to transferleague

http://www.transferleague.co.uk/manchester-city/english-football-teams/manchester-city-transfers

Same website has united at £295m
----------------------------------------------------------------------
they value mkhi at like 38m when they paid 26.5m according to SP and Lukaku at 75m when sources say everton held out for 90m and koeman even said 90+ etc.

it says city spent Expenditures: £224.37m in 17/18 and Expenditures: £191.70m the year beofre so idk where they/you got 380m from.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The link has 17/18 as £212m and 16/17 as £168m so £380m.

posted on 26/12/17

No, £380m is also wrong.

posted on 26/12/17

And there Mourinho reverts fully back to type. I didn’t think he’d be saying this even before the new year.

ironically you display a lack of understanding

You say you’d be happy with a period of wilderness

That can never happen. The club is a victim of its own success and has to have people like Jose run it

I’m not saying that a philosophy I particularly want. But I’m a realist and accept the reality of the situation.

It depends if you include Luiz & Moreno who were bought to send straight out on loan
They would be at least £15m

i just went to the premier league transfers and manually checked city expenditure this year and last.

If we want to keep up with City we need to keep spending. Simple as that.

People don’t seem to understand we’re up against a near invincible side. How else do you keep up without bringing in better players?

---------------

The point is obvious.

It's simply stupid to mention figures in making a point if you don't know what the figures actually are.

Robb's entire point is negated for that simple fact.

Not really. The list I had said £400 million.

Someone provided an even more official list which said £380 million.

It’s noy exactly a smoking gun that shoots my opinion down. Unless you purposely want to have a fight of semantics to distract from the realities of your mega splurge

You still don't get it.

Let me put it this way, and yes it is hypothetical

If we had dropped down to 15th in Moyes 2nd year but won in his 3rd is that better than what we got with Moyes sacked, lvg sacked and mourinho off the pace?

FYI I think Moyes was the wrong man unless he had SAF helping him for a year or so.

Semantics?

You fool. This isn't an argument about semantics. It's an argument about specifics.

Your figures are wrong. Which negates your entire point.

You can’t run a football club with hindsight or fantasy outcomes.

A club like ours is massive. So big that two seasons outside the CL, while not quite terminal, is quite damaging to the business so we need to bring in safe hands like Jose.

What Pep has done with City is unprecedented. Jose shouldn’t be blamed for that.
