Boxing needs to drop the unbeaten facade that prevents the top guys boxing each other in their prime. MMA has proven that you can still be a box office fighter with loses on a resume...especially if the loses come from top fighters
----------------------------------------------------------------------
UFC has 1 belt per weight class, 1 promoter, and large gaps between weight classes.
The 0 is a thing, promoters want their prospects to fight a range of fghting styles and abilities before putting them in the ring top top level opposition, but there are too many belts and too many weight classes.

Agreed. The undefeated tag is purely for generating more money and using it as a marketing tool.
Floyd Mayweather was undefeated and that was his approach to promoting himself as the best ever and having bragging rights over other guys. Unfortunately, fighters have tried to adopt that same approach without actually fighting top fighters, which Floyd done.

Whether he's undefeated or not is irrelevant to overall resume. Who's fought the better opposition overall? That would be AJ.
Joe Calzaghe was undefeated but Manny Pacquiao wasn't. But who fought the better fighters? It's Pacquiao.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep!
The only true unbeaten boxer who thought everyone was Floyd Mayweather.

If AJ didn't have 3 losses, I'd agree.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But the losses don't take away from the level of opposition he fought.
As I said, Joe Calzaghe is undefeated but Manny Pacquiao has lost 8 times.
Does Calzaghe have a better resume than Pacquiao?
The UFC has shown that when you continously put the best fighters against each other, eventually, they will lose.
Being undefeated only helps a boxers marketability up until they are a world champion. Once they are an established name then good entertaining fighters aren't going to lose box office sales just because they have loses on their record. Especially if those loses are from other top fighters. It's promoters that care not the fans
I think fans would definitely prefer to see the best fight the best than have their favourite fighter remain undefeated.

If the argument is,who has had the biggest wins, I'd put Fury ahead of AJ but I am referring to the overall strength of resume and schedule.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This I agree with

Especially at the expense of not seeing the best fight the best. It's a really lazy promotional tool that doesn't mean anything to the fans who actually buy ppv fights on a regular basis
Think Chisora will now have the best resume in boxing when it comes to fights, whether win or lose. Probably just about overtaken Kevin Johnson now.

Talking about active HW fighters
Again, the difference needs to be specified. I am not claiming AJ has the biggest wins on his resume, I am simply stating that AJ has fought the tougher opposition, overall.
Chisora has fought tougher opposition at HW than David Haye.
But we all recognise Haye as the better HW.
Actually, Hayes resume at HW is actually quite poor.

You can thank the likes of Mayweather for this undefeated crap. All the true greats in history lost fights and they lost because they took on all comers.
Now it seems that undefeated fighters are scared to fight the very best in their division for fear of losing their 0. Just look at Spence and Crawford. It's embarrassing that they haven't fought already and it brings shame on the sport.
There is no other fight in boxing I want to see more than Spence vs Crawford.
Me either. It could be one of the very greatest match ups of the modern era.
Needs to happen soon though, 32 & 35 both getting on
I think if it doesn't happen in 2023, it will never happen.
Yup although 2023 already getting a bit too late for this now. And probably too late for this rivalry to become two or three great fights. Which it should have been.
They still have plenty of time to make the fight for early 2023 or summer 2023. I think the fighters need to push it over the line because clearly something is causing the fight from being done and I suspect it surrounds purse splits or broadcast rights.
