Thing is, we could argue all night over mythical bouts.

It's all hypothetical and even if fighters across eras did meet, they could fight 5 times and you could get 5 different outcomes.

Just takes one punch, especially at HW.

Usyk has never fought someone with Lewis power and fight IQ, nor hand speed/power combo.

AJ doesn't compare as he's more of a Bruno clone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lewis has never fought someone as technical as Usyk either so there is that. There is a reason Usyk is unbeaten in two weight divisions and never been stopped or put down.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Usyk would get stoped by Lewis.

Lewis was too big, too powerful, too clever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He might but he could also beat Lewis too. The too big argument has been absolutely demolished now. Can't believe people are still clinging to that after Usyk beat AJ twice and now Fury.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because neither used their size or weight effectively in the fights.

Fury fought well, but always been overrated imo.

Obviously taking nothing away form usyk
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally someone talking a bit more sense and not fanboying over Fury.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whereas you’ve been fanboying over Usyk all night even proclaiming he’d beat Ali 😂

Anyhoo, think we can all agree it was a great fight and we'll probably not see the rematch.

Take it easy everyone

This is looking more and more like an excuse. Or maybe Usyk is taking away their size advantage with his footwork and movement?

A prime Ali (which is the term I used) was beaten once by one of the greatest heavyweights ever - and that was a close fight.

You’ve obviously only just got into boxing so go and watch his early fights, read some books and figure out why he was the greatest that ever lived. Usyk isn’t fit to put his gloves on

Yes I'm well aware of Ali and consider him the greatest HW myself. I'm at least suggesting Usyk could beat Ali which seems more reasonable than the opinion that Usyk would never be able to beat Ali, coming from you. That's the more casual boxing fan opinion here.

Well that’s not what you originally said so you’re already backtracking. It matters not, no serious commentator is even going to suggest Usyk could beat Ali. The notion is ridiculous. Usyk isnt quick enough for a start, he doesn’t have serious knockout power at this level and while his footwork is exceptional, I don’t think it matches Ali’s. Ali was another level and pretty much everyone accepts that

Very easy to get carried away with the boxers from previous eras. I feel like you are really discrediting Usyk.

Let's be honest, fighters have improved in all sorts of areas from half a century ago; bigger, stronger etc. Ali was great in his era and he shouldn't really be compared to fighters from today but since you want to go down that road, yeah I'm happy thinking that Usyk is capable of beating a prime Ali.

having rewatched the fight, i think the 115-112 ringside score to Uysk was the correct one

I'll need to watch it back, although this is one fight I'd be glad to revisit.

So where does AJ go from here?

Does the Fury fight look like a pipe dream now?
Is Wilder still an option, if he beats Zhang?
Would they make AJ vs Usyk 3 and are people interested in it?

posted on 19/5/24

Can’t argue with the result felt it was a draw overall so Usyk winning by 1 because of the knockdown/standing count. Nobody won convincingly though, Fury could have had him in round 6, Usyk could have had him in round 9.

I gave Fury rounds 3, 4, 6, 7, 11 and 12
Usyk rounds 1,2, 5, 8, 9, 10

But even then rounds 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 were not clear in the slightest.

Great fight either way and we go again in October. John Fury is even worse than Eubank SR, other than being a disgrace outside the ring, wtf was he doing inside the ring? Sugar Hill is Fury’s trainer yet all I can hear between rounds is John shouting over him saying do this do that try this. It’s pathetic, shouldn’t be anywhere near the ring, Andy Lee was just as bad surprisingly, both of them constantly shouting and Sugar Hill so you’ve got 3 words in your ear all saying something different. Don’t think it made a huge difference as Fury’s 36 and 20+ years into the game so doesn’t even really need instructions anyway but needs to make a decision and have one voice.

He hasn’t looked what I’d call “great” since the Whyte fight now, makes far too many dumb mistakes and gets caught way too much. Main reason I’ve never rated Sugar Hill, think he’s a weak trainer and that’s 3 poor fights in a row overall, whether that’s just age, too many leeches in the camp / voices now or it is sugar hill being completely over rated who knows.

But personally I’d bin Sugar and just make Andy Lee as head coach trainer if I was him and tell John to shut the fack up and take a seat

But anyway fair play to Usyk thought he was done in round 6 but came back like the warrior he is, both tough khunts. AJ would of quit after 6 from those punches

Personally I’d love it if Usyk just fought Hrgovic/Dubois winner for mandatory and then let AJ fight fury next

Then the winner of Fury AJ fights Usyk next spring

Makes so much more sense. As if fury beats Usyk then what, a 3rd one?

posted on 19/5/24

Also how good is Agit Kabayel also known of him since he beat Chisora in Monaco but another excellent performance when completely under rated last night

Love to see him continue to get big fights. Think he beats a lot of the top 10

Usyk Hrgovic October
Fury AJ November

Winner v winner in April for undisputed

Makes a lot more sense

posted on 19/5/24

Not that it’ll happen.

But let’s say Fury wins the rematch in October/November and Joshua beats Hrgovic in November/December

Then what? It’s probably gonna have to be Usyk Fury 3 in April/May unless Usyk retires in that instance

And if Usyk wins then he’ll fight AJ so I don’t see how we ever get AJ Joshua. One of them fights that’ll never happen now imo
