Bellerin criticizes ArsenalFanTV.

He is 100% correct to criticise AFTV and ignore it.
AFTV is just a TOWIE/ Geordie Shore type "reality show" that is so contrived it hurts.
I doubt any real Arsenal fan watches it or takes any notice of it, never mind the players.
The "characters" are so cringe worthy and over the top - they make Louie Spence seem normal.

For the record, I don't like Arsenal FanTV. I don't watch it. I've never linked to it or discussed it. I don't even know all the parodied characters other than the Ty and Claude figures.

It's one thing for other fans to criticize it. It's another for a player to be rambling about it and be so cavalierly dismissive of criticism.

Don't know what you define as a "real fan", but anyone who travels around the country, spending his hard-earned money and his time following and watching and supporting the club counts as a fan in my book regardless of whatever embarrassing reality tv antics they get up to.
Ultimately, they love the club regardless of whether they are caants or not.

I can see where he’s coming from because clearly some of the videos are purposely captioned with misleading headlines in order to attract views. However what cannot be doubted is AFTV is probably how the majority of the Arsenal fanbase (except Ty) feel towards the club and Wenger.

I saw Robbie and DT travelled up to Scandanavia in -10 degrees to support the team so for Bellerin to make comments like that is in poor taste after all the support these lads give them. At the end of the day it is entertainment as Bellerin mentioned but to question whether these guys are real fans is a disgrace. Their pssion clearly spills over most of the time but they clearly love Arsenal (in Ty’s case too much so)

To call those bunch idiots is laughable really. Lads like Dt and Troops are out there every week supporting Arsenal around the country. I am not sure these guys even make money out of it.

Pretty much this.
I don't deny some of the antics are embarrassing, but for a mediocre player who earns £100k a week to come out insulting a bunch of guys, some of who probably flip burgers but devote much of their limited resources and leisure time to the club, is pretty low.

And as you pointed out, the reality is much of what these guys say is what the average Arsenal fan thinks. They just do it with more attention-seeking theatrics on tv.

Yes they do. Like a pimp makes money off 'his girls' - but still 'loves' them

They may be massive fans - but they have found a way to exploit the club for their own interests. It is no surprise it is mainly opposition fans defending AFTV - as they are the ones who watch it. And they are the ones the characters in this comedy cater to.

"For sure, he's certainly learnt a lot from Wenger in arrogance and a sense of entitlement backed up by nothing but mediocre offerings. "

Why do you make out arrogance here is a mistery to me. I am quite happy with Bellerin doesnt care and listen what the fools of ArsenalfanTV has to say. For an 22 year old boy Bellerin gave a mature and professional interview and he is fully right to put it in the "entertainment" category. And yes he is right that people make out money of it. It's legitim though and a fact.

No different to what Arsenal fans post on a forum to be honest.

These guys go home and away so have the right to their opinion just like you guys on here do.

Spot on Sheriff. They’re no different to the different types of caaants you meet down the pub. You have to say Robbie is a smart entrepeneur for building up such success on the basis of their rants. That Mo faaacks me off though with his I’m so intelligent act. Ty is a deluded caaant and Claude is that serial whinger we all know who would moan even if he got to shaaag Megan Fox. DT probably talks the most sense and Troops or whatever he’s called is some drug dealer parody with his roadman act. All in all, I need to stop watching AFTV

But when your opinion needs to get 'hits' it tends to massively over-exaggerated and false. It is TOWIE for Arsenal haters, and nothing more.

Those guys are far bigger fans of the club than Bellerin is. He's playing for us as a professional. He signed a bumper contract on stupid 6-figure wages after just one decent season (thanks Wenger and Gazidis). Barca were once rumoured to be interested, but his utter mediocrity means no one gives a sheite about him now, so he can get to PRETEND he's devoted to the club. And get to define who is a "real fan" and who isn't from his twisted, privileged bubble where he is rewarded handsomely for mediocrity.

To call that childish tantrum "matured" is beyond laughable. No mature player denigrates fans, even if he really believes the fans are being unfair. Only entitled brats do.

Not sure where you get "childish tantrum" from, tbh.

He didn't criticise fans - he criticised a constructed platform that is dramatised to get non-Arsenal fans to watch.

Exactly the reaction you can hear on ArsenalfanTV.

On twitter it is good for a click bait.

He's got a fair point. I don't think any sane Arsenal fan watches it, let alone the players. Only the non Arsenal fans are interested in it. But Robbie done well, and I don't blame him. It's the guys he interviews who are a bit silly.

I'm referring to THOSE AFTV fans he criticized and denigrated with utter contempt. Even referring to just them, including Robbie himself and his interviewees, he was STILL wrong and basically an immature brat to do so. It shows up his ingratitude and arrogance and sense of entitlement.

Those people deserve criticism and contempt though

Funny how the right to say what you want about someone is very much a one way street!

How does Robbie deserve criticism and contempt? For giving a voice to fans after matches? Whose fault is it that the fans after the matches are often disappointed and express their frustrations?

And nobody has denied Bellerin his right to react to fans he feels contempt for. He is not immune from criticism for expressing his contempt.

-------
Quality control, he created the monster. I am willing to assume AFTV didn't get nearly as many hits until he got the controversial characters involved (at both ends of the spectrum)

And Robbie doesn't give opinion, he asks the questions doesn't he?

posted on 16/2/18

I watched the interview and it sounds like he was talking about Robbie. If that’s the case then he’s 100% correct

He wasn’t ranting about AFTV either. He was asked if he watches it a Q & A and he answered the question.

This article is a complete overreaction
