My praise for Cav, from what i saw, is reflected from Tim Spiers:

Think many including myself questioned whether Cavaleiro was worth the £7m fee last season...not anymore. On his day he's Wolves' most potent attacking threat and "his day" now happens more often than not. Fabulous to watch when in full flow. And almost unplayable.

Never understood how anyone thought Cavaleiro wasn't good enough last season to be honest, we carried so much more threat when he was on the pitch, something like 60% of our goals came when he was on the pitch, he only featured in about 40% of the possible minutes.

Yes he is even better now but his ability was obvious to me and the clown was Lambert who picked saville ahead of him at times, let that sink in, saville was given the nod ahead of Cav in one of the wide positions.

I think everyone was disappointed with Cavaleiro last season and more often than not looked worth nowhere near the sum we paid for him and moved regularly broke down around him. But he is unrecognisable from that now. He looks a lot fitter, is learning to use his ability more effectively and is becoming more consistent. I think he has not only improved from last season to this but again from the first half of the season to now. He still isn’t a 90 minute player but is starting to be more than a 30 minute player. One of a number of players, like Coady and Doherty that Nuno and his staff have significantly improved

Last season he was playing with Dave and Dicko

This season he’s playing with Neves and Jota

Not hard is it ?

i wouldnt argue against any of neves, jota, cav or coady being pots - all have been fantastic

There were only two negatives from yesterday’s game to me.

First was Ruddy whose handling seems to becoming less secure every week. Regularly drops two crosses a game and doesn’t dominate the six yard box. Would like to see Norris given a chance.

And Afobe has been poor so far. His whole game is linked to trying to get into scoring positions and he offers little in the build up play. And to accommodate him we push Jota and Costa into deeper positions where they are less effective. The main reason we bought Afobe in was to give us some goals but we have created 5 clear cut openings for him already and he hasn’t taken any of them

Agree with that DJ

Playing Afobe seems to change our dynamics, and not for the better !

We should get rid and find someone else....preferably Portuguese

Had a good day yesterday, was nice to see Wolves fan with a smile on their face. Thought the Preston police were very good in dealing with the fans as were the local pubs

I was sat near to some wolves fans from South Wales and some from Preston, ironically. Even the train ride home was palatable, if a little noisy

Afobe was brought in to score goals when we needed them in a tight game. Yesterday was prime example of a time we needed a goal scorer on the pitch. So far, Afobe hasn’t been that player.

Fans will still sing his name though because he has a few interviews in newspapers that they like.

Do you now think he is better than Zyro and not the other way around?

It is interesting reading comments about Afobe here because they rarely match up with what I read elsewhere.

Have read many many comments from a few other forums saying that he is overall doing well but just a bit rusty up front which is expected. Played about 70 mins for us now hasn't he?

I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s finding his pr a bit tedious now. Saying he is coming home when everyone knows he grew up in London as an Arsenal fan.

I hope he comes good in the coming months and scores a few, but we loaned him for 3 months to land running, and he hasn’t

So what was the point in loaning him if he doesn’t score goals to make the difference in tight matches. We already have good players in those areas, so what has he brought to the table?

posted on 18/2/18

He has played 67 minutes

Thought he was adding much needed depth to the forward line?

How many minutes did Costa play before looking sharp again? When was the last time Bonatini scored? Well that's over 700 minutes.

posted on 18/2/18

To be fair to Afobe I don't think Lionel Messi would have scored yesterday once Preston had got everyone behind the ball.
When it was being reported that Afobe was 'coming home' I posted that he did not fit in Nuno's set-up and that I could see no reason to sign him and I still stand by that.
I think even when he is not scoring, Bonatini brings more to the table than Afobe and is still my first choice striker in the squad.
