I don't see us signing Afobe and I don't really believe we intended to, we just wanted useful cover and if Afobe had to start games he would score goals.

Thought he was adding much needed depth to the forward line?

How many minutes did Costa play before looking sharp again? When was the last time Bonatini scored? Well that's over 700 minutes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not much depth if he isn’t stepping up when others don’t. Surely the whole point of having cover is that when someone isn’t performing, they can step up and do the job. If your whole argument on why someone is ok, is that others aren’t performing that role either; then the argument is flawed.

He is a loan signing. If we have to get him up to speed when we only signed him for our last 18 games, then it is completely pointless.

We really didn't need to sign Afobe at all, especially as we had already spent 1m on Mir. As Gem has pointed out, he doesn't fit in to Nuno's set up and I believe it was Thelwell who persuaded the club to get him on loan.

He won't make that much of an impact, even if he starts a game and I would certainly play Bonatini up front should Nuno want to rest one of current front three.

Would Mir be giving more than Afobe? From most of what I have read Afobe is playing well but lacks the finishing touches thus far but as I have said, he has played 67 minutes so people suggesting he isn't offering anything after that amount of time clearly has their mind made up already.

Which is why we just shouldn't have bothered bringing him back.

We did create a good chance for Afobe yesterday that left him with just the keeper to beat, but as the keeper came out, instead of placing it low, or trying a chip, he just hit it as hard as he could straight at the keeper

Norwich late equaliser after 95 minutes.

posted on 18/2/18

He has missed several very good chances since he has been back. The whole point of a loan signing is that that slot straight in and perform a role that the team is missing. He hasn’t done that.

If he is going to take time to bed in, we may as well use that time for one of our permanent signings like Mir. We only have 14 games left and at the moment, his loan is completely pointless and will remain so unless he scores goals which win us points.

Wolves U23s play against Villa U23s on Monday night at Bescot. Game will be live streamed by bet365 for anyone interested and with access to that site. The match is expected to draw a number of scouts from top Premier League clubs primarily to watch Wolves centre back Cameron John who has not yet been tied into a long term contract

That’s what the doctor said after he had diagnosed me with Tom Jones syndrome and I asked if it was common.

Can someone please enlighten me as to why we bought Mir and got Afobe on loan?

Mir can't even get on the subs bench and Afobe has not been the player everyone but me thought he would be.

We have 14 games to go and neither have made any impact thus far. We are still top and 13 points clear of the third placed side. These are facts and quite frankly Cavaleiro, Jota and Costa are doing the business quite adequately and others are getting in on the scoresheet as well.

So I stand my remarks before and state that we really didn't need to bring anyone else in, even for cover.

Maybe, just maybe Nuno will start Afobe on Wednesday, but I'd much prefer Bonatini up front if Nuno does rest one of our regular front three.

WITSS

we bought mir and afobe because our manager, the guy who has dragged wolves up from the average chumpo side of the last few years to the best side in the league by a long distance this year (and arguably one of the best sides this division has seen) felt that we needed cover up front and that mir could be a good value prospect for the future.

from your comments you clearly feel that you have more to offer wolves than nuno, in terms of footballing knowledge and the ability to manage a squad. on that basis i have written to the club to demand NES steps down immediately and they approach you to lead us on into the premier league. i call on all fellow JA606ers to get behind the idea with a petition, banners at the ground and some kind of protest if our demands are not acted upon.

[oh, and if you read the earlier comments i think you'll find lots of people questioned how big an impact afobe would have and felt that altho he was OK cover for the bench for the past few weeks, the idea that he was some kind of messiah was way off the mark. there were a few who seemed to believe afobe was going to arrive, score 20+ goals, replace bonatini and be given a five year contract before launching us into the top four of the prem and the champions league...but they tended to be in the minority]

Bristol City 2 up at Leeds after 16 minutes. If they win that there will be a 5 point gap between 6th and 7th so the play off teams getting established now. Boro probably the team most likely to break into those positions but not looking like promotion contenders st the moment

Saw a video clip of Mad Mick running out to the touchline when Ipswich scored, screaming "feck off, feck off" at the Norwich fans opposite.
4 seconds before the final whistle he experienced instant karma

spurs board was comedy gold. some were still celebrating the pen and slagging off the doom-mongers as Rochdale were equalising lol

Great for Rochdale as the revenue from the replay will be a big boost for their coffers. Spurs fans applauded them off I understand.
