Quite a rant gb. But do you really believe it was Nuno who wanted Afobe back? I'm inclined to believe it was Thelwell. Nothing wrong with getting Mir either, but if what you say is true and that we got him for the future (and I'm sure we have) then he's not the cover everyone wanted, is he?
We were and still are, on course for promotion and that's without the goal scoring ability of Afobe or Mir.
So I stand by my belief that we didn't need anyone to come in during the January window.
That's just my opinion and I've stuck with that.
However, there are a few now that are having doubts about Afobe's ability and maybe questioning why we got him.

Norwich late equaliser after 95 minutes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No goals after 89 minutes then ended 1-1
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Saw a video clip of Mad Mick running out to the touchline when Ipswich scored, screaming "feck off, feck off" at the Norwich fans opposite.
4 seconds before the final whistle he experienced instant karma
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was shouting "f*** off" at the Ipswich fans!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It doesn't really matter who he was mouthing off at does it? The point is that a foul mouthed tirade from a football manager is totally unprofessional and the thick Yorkshire pudding got exactly what he deserved 5 minutes later
I thought Mick looked a lot like Nuno when we got a late winner at Bristol. Great to see that passion in a manager
So many flaws in your comments as usual wolfie.
Firstly this one - Afobe has not been the player everyone but me thought he would be.
If you take the time to read what people on this site have been saying for months I think you will find virtually everyone except cinci and perton weren't keen on us re-signing Afobe.
Secondly, you seem to say that because Afobe and Mir haven't made an impact (although Mir may well prove to be good in the long run) it means that you were right to say we didn't need a new striker. Well I think you will find the vast majority of Wolves fans and the Wolves manager would tell you we did need another striker, but the club have made poor choices. In 8 of the last 13 league games we have scored less than 2 goals, surely everyone would want us to be more of a goalscoring threat than that.
And are you really saying that it was Thelwall that wanted Locadia in the summer and Afobe now and he went against Nuno's will. If so then you are definitely on your own if you think Nuno is so weak within the club.
Haven't seen Alex Neil's post match comments (I have about as much respect for him as I do for Colin W*nker and Steve Cotterill) but apparently he made reference to the Wolves players "rolling around." Do you think he knows that his team (acting on his instructions) are bottom of the Fair Play League?

i am sure it was thelwell, or one of the old back room team if there's anyone else still there, that put afobe's name in front of nuno. i doubt nuno or mendes would have known much about beni
but prior to that it will have been nuno who identified that he wanted another striker or two in the squad. that's my understanding of how these things work. thelwell won't have told nuno he must have a striker, or that he HAD to take afobe. why would he?
i don't think mir was ever intended to be the first choice reserve (if that makes sense ) that nuno had said he wanted. if he'd have hit the ground running and bagged a couple of goals in his first appearances then he might have stayed on the bench, and i wouldn't rule him out getting back on it later in the season - especially if nuno decides he doesn't want afobe in the prem. but having had a quick look at him the boss seems to think he isn't ready.
as with your incorrect comment that you were the only person who questioned afobe being the right fit, you're also not the only person who has said we didn't need another striker to win promotion. most of us have felt that if we keep jota, cav, costa and bona fit and happy for the rest of the season then we should finish top. but running a football squad isn't about what you absolutely need it is about having back-up plans, looking to develop and keep moving forward and trying to find new players for the future. we don't NEED another goalkeeper to win promotion. but we still went out to sign a young talent now rather than wait until the summer. and as most fans have said countless times, if we had let the window shut with no cover and then dropped points because bona and cav, say, got injured in February, how stupid would the club have looked?

alex neil's comments straight out of the 1980's bumper book of petty racist clichés for managers and commentators. "wolves have a lot of foreign players who clearly like a dive. because they're foreign you know. can't trust them..."
perhaps that applied to doc as well (it's a long way over the water to Ireland) who was left lying on the ground injured on a couple of occasions during the game. or maybe alex can turn to another page in his manual and suggest doc was left lying on the floor because he is stupid and lazy, and was probably drunk on Guinness.
hope the FA put him on a charge, but i suspect nothing will come of it as usual.
DJ and gb. I have never said we don't need another striker. What I've said all along is that we didn't need one during the transfer window and that we should wait until the summer, when hopefully we'll be a Premiership club and therefore be able to get a very good one.
The club didn't get the main striker they obviously wanted, or did they get a right sided wing back.
We were and have been able to keep our distance from the rest of the pack with the squad we had before the transfer window.
Who cares about how many goals we score? Is how many we concede that really matters. I said at the start of the season that we shouldn't rely on a main striker and that we'd be ok because we will have others that will score 15 or so during the season. You poo-pooed that notion, but it'll probably turn out that way.
Next season is the time to go and get the players needed to remain in the Premier League.
Not sure what your last paragraph means. I've never mentioned Locadia and if you really believe it was Nuno who suggested Afobe, then you're probably on your own, even gb seems to agree with me.
The facts are, as I see it, is that the club weren't able to get either a decent striker or a right sided wing back. They went for Mir who I agree, is one for the future and got Afobe at the last minute after Bournemouth realized that it was the only way to offload him.
Only time will tell if getting Afobe was a wise move.

Of course we didn't need a goalkeeper to win promotion. He's one for the future, just like Mir. You use the word if, relating to possible injuries to our front four. Well, IF is a big word and bar Bonatini's slight knock, we've been injury free, thank goodness. So the fact is, we've kept up the momentum without a right sided wing back or a big signing striker and if our current form continues, then hopefully we'll get promoted and that's when we can sign the top players to keep us in the top flight and unless Afobe get a hateful of goals, I don't see Nuno keeping him next season.
Bad memories of that season in the mid 90s when we looked odds on for automatic promotion until John De Wolf got injured in March. Barely won another game after that and ended up missing out on promotion by losing the play off semi final. Pity we didn't have adequate cover

with most debates on here it comes down to one supporters opinion on a particular player of formation over another, none of which can ever really be proved to be right or wrong. in this instance it comes down to you trying to argue that because afobe hasn't scored yet in 67 minutes, you were right about our having no need to sign cover up front for the run in to the end of the season. that would be a bold enough statement if it was simply you versus 30,000 wolves fans. but in this case it is you saying you know better than nuno - the man who DID choose to bring in strikers for cover. when put like that, do you not feel even the slightest bit WAA?

Changing the subject I can’t believe any team in the country has had as many players sent off against them as Wolves have had this season. Also can’t imagine Wolves have ever had as many in their history. Surely unprecedented

yes, 7 or 8 red cards against us...and probably half as many that should have been given but weren't. we really are too good for this league
I have to disagree with you about Mir, cinci. We paid 1m for him and I believe he was intended to be "cover" for Bonatini. We got Afobe at the last minute, literally and he seems to have fallen behind Afobe in the pecking order. It's quite a risk to take if, by your suggestion, he wasn't intended for any games this season.
Until we NEED to start either Afobe or Mir ahead of the current incumbents I think assessments are premature.
