Pele left Benfica a year ago after zero, yes ZERO appearances

Just for the record, Pele was a Benfica player, but went out on loan a lot. Last season (July 1st 2017) he transferred to Rio Av ( in a swap deal) and started 31 of 34 league games, scoring 7 goals, (after signing a 5 year contract.) The other 3 games were due to an injury and a yellow card suspension. The season before that, he was out with an injury.

His fee of 9m seems a bit excessive to me, but then he still has 4 years left on his contract with Rio Ave.

I don't really care about a player's past history. Nuno's record for success with players that he has brought in has been very good indeed and for that reason I trust Nuno's judgement.
Miranda is perhaps not as good as we had hoped and no-one knows why we bought Mir but apart from those two the players that have come in so far have been brilliant.

WE do know why we bought Mir, it was an opportunity we felt was worth the fee for a talented youngster.

Miranda was a flop though ultimately, who knows how distracted he was by the gambling accusations.

But why wasn't Mir played, or at least on the bench? He was a somewhat panic January window buy and was given a chance when he first came in. I really don't see him featuring in the Premier League, if he couldn't start in the Championship. He could at least have been on the bench when we had promotion secured.
