Penalty decisions are still pretty much subjective even on VAR, so the ref/VAR official obviously bottled the decision.
maybe because it is very close so there was no time for Ashley Young to react. I know sometimes it is given, Roberto Baggio's penalty against Chile in WC98 comes to mine but still it is not stonewall to me
He was about 2ft from the ball, how was he supposed to move his hand away?
Jones should've been sent off though.
Young's arm was out in an unnatural position. That's enough for the decision to be given, 2ft away or not.
Stonewall pen.

Well mate, still waiting for them examples
That was a stonewall pen, think the ref wanted to give United a chance for some reason

It didnt look like a penalty to me to be honest. Arm too close to his body, the body naturally moving towards the ball, and from close range. It looks worse in slo mo but on the right side of ok for me.
If a player stretches and his arm comes out, then that is a penalty for me.
If a player turns his body to block a shot and it hits his arm that is a penalty.
Jones wasn't sent off because of the double jeopardy law as he was (albeit clumsily) making a genuine attempt for the ball.

But he moved his hand, quite evidently to the ball, almost pre emptive, to cut out the cross. You must understand that? It was close so usually you wouldn't give a pen, but in this instance he actually moved to cut out the cross.
Let's be honest aswell, young is a clever boy, look at the handball v city.
Even in this image you can see the intent of the handball

That is bizarre, i'll try get the video.

4:50 on this video lol clear as day, dips his shoulder down and all sorts.
And the guilt when he turns around
I guess it would have put the game to bed so Oliver had orders from above not to give it?
Stonewall penalty. Ashley Young is a decent cheater though. Knows what he's doing and hides it well.
yeah not really debateble, I know football can be polarising but its bizarre how that was not given.
From what I saw of the incident, it was not a "clear and obvious" bad decision that needed to be overturned. I'd put it slightly more on the penalty side than not, but if I was in Neil Swarbrick's position I wouldn't have overturned it either. Neither would I have overturned it if a penalty had been given - it was one that could be argued either way and certainly wasn't a stonewaller. On-field call should stand and it did.
It looks to me more a case of Moses trying to kick it against his arm to win a penalty.
I have seen them given, and there are shades of grey, but for me it falls on the no-penalty side
Can't be a penalty as Ashley Young was last man so would have been double jeopardy. Read the new rules.
