Best case scenario here:

- We hit 500+ with Cook, Root and Stokes scoring tons
- We go on to win the match and the series
- Jennings gets a king pair

That way we can call up Burns for the last test, which will be a lower-pressure dead rubber.

Find it difficult to understand how some of these players that England have tried have scored tons of runs in county but can’t buy a run in international cricket. Wonder whether that says much about the quality of bowling or the mindset of the players generally.

Ranji is hardly the highest of levels either tbf. Ishant is bowling some wonderful stuff here.

It makes sense to have picked Vince for this match at least.

Jennings deserves to be shot.

No, it made sense to pick Burns. Vince is no more a Test bat than Jennings.

Unless you mean having already called Vince up, in which case I suppose I agree. Vince is pretty pants at Test level, but he's certainly no worse than Jennings.

The big difference is that Vince has an excellent technique - and clearly the talent - Jennings clearly doesnt.
Vince is just too loose - if he could tighten up he’d be as good as anyone in the side

I think Vince would have put up a good score today based on form and being used to playing here. I also think people are a little harsh on him based on the Aussie series.

Not that I think he should necessarily open going forwards; he is just comfortably better than Jennings.
