What does the 'ME' part of BME represent exactly?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Minority ethnicity I think
The article also discusses raising female levels, but let's concentrate on black and ethnic minorities. Black and mixed race players are a lot in the premier league because they are given the platform to be the best.
Whether or not black and other ethnic minorities are given that same opportunity to be top coaches remains to be seen.
I do agree, the best man should always get the job- it is the reason I hate the ' Rooney rule' with a passion. I recently left my job and interview 4 times with the best developers in this country and had two offers. I always tell my friends we can't all just scream racism every time. In saying that, it would be daft to think there is not an issue somewhere.

Yeah but one group are dealing with people's health
When you factor in the average age of managers and the previous experience in football requirement then there are actually a surprising number of BAME managers. It should go up significantly in the next 20 years or so.
The thing I find most ridiculous about the whole thing is actually that BAME means black really. Is there a single Asian manager? Yet the Asian population is more than double the black population.
It was the same with the whole Oscars fiasco. 2 more black winners would have actually gone above the population percentage but Latino winners were non existent and well below population %.
The problem with being PC is that it is borderline impossible to actually achieve the aims unless you skew the system all the way to an equality of outcome solution. You then do not get the best person for the job.

I’d well imagine the NHS would employ the best suited person for the job irrespective of ethnicity. But that’s exactly the problem. This hasn’t been happening in football and BAME coaches/managers feel they have been unfairly overlooked for jobs in favour of a white manager/coach instead. The numbers back this up as well.

“They haven't proved themselves to have done a good job so it's expected they won't be offered loads more.”
Would you say BAME managers/coaches have been given the opportunity to prove themselves in the first place?
The amount of BAME managers at the 92 league clubs suggests they aren’t even given a chance to get the foot on the first rung of the ladder. You have BAME former players saying they haven’t been considered for jobs and find it hard to step up from playing to coaching/management.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would say I don't know but certainly the ones that have been given a chance haven't proved themselves. Houghton has been decent I suppose although never gonna manage a top team.
You have the likes of Sol Campbell who got refused for a job and claimed he has one of the greatest minds in football and that he wasn't going to go lower to find a job. Perhaps he thinks too highly of himself with nothing to back it up? Perhaps managers need to prove themselves like everybody else has to? Gerrard had to go to Scotland and he's won numerous trophies in his career, captained club and country and spent time managing at a much lower level. Rodgers had to work his way up from being a coach. Maybe it's better to keep your mouth closed and work hard?
