Even if it's not about goals, asissts might count for something.
But no, it turns out they don't matter either, it's about 'playing some part in' goals.🤣
Seriously boys, stop.😀

We aren't talking about yards run, or heat maps, or some obscure silly stat, we are talking about goals and assists.
These are pretty fundamental things in football, especially if your a forward thinking player, and especially relevant when people start talking about things like being the best footballer in the world, or premier league for that matter.
It's only by virtue of him scoring 3 goals against Cardiff that this conversation is even happening, so there is the relevance, and importance of actual end product, compared to an individuals perception of how good a player is.
So you'll call stats for goals and asissts 'chutney', yet we are meant to accept some spurious 'played a part in stat' to prove a players real contribution ?
Can't have it both ways boys.😉

You've got us.
He's average and Modric is even worse.
it is bizarre how this liverpool fan thinks the world revolves around him, why get so worked up that other people are appreciating a good player? odd
He can be the best in Europe. 'Can' being the operative word for me, it's entirely up to him. He can be so frustrating at times because we know he has the quality.
He'll never have the amazing stats of Ronaldo and Messi as he's not like that. Doesn't appear to have that same drive they've got. He just enjoys his football, very unselfish player and has been carrying us for a while up front.
If you watch the Chelsea games, a lot of the time he has to do it on his own, gets very little support from his team mates who just basically watch him.

Read the title of this thread.
It asserts that Eden Hazard is the best player in the world.
If it were simply an Eden Hazard appreciate thread, then it would be odd to come on and argue a point, but it isnt, it's a thread about him being the world's best player, which is beyond laughable, and worthy of commenting on.😉

Disagree, I've never been lead by stats and actually find people that keep quoting them annoying.
Stats can be massaged to make them look like anything you want.
Get the last touch on the ball before the scorer plants it and hey ho you have an assist. The bloke that done all the donkey work doesn't get a mench.
Jorginho had a stat against the barcodes for the most passes recorded in a game this season - how many of them were meaningful or achieved anything.
The best barometer of a players performance is your eyes!
Also for your information, I never bought up stats - I never do!
On pure talent and ability hazard is as good as anyone in the world and I'd put him only behind Messi. I don't read too much into stats as I believe the numbers scored in la Liga are down to the standard of the league and not the players as such. Where hazard falls down is consistency, Ronaldo and Messi just churn out goals, match winning performances year after year. On their day I don't see much between the two

jlou
I'm not saying he's the best in the world, I mean ronaldo and messi for me are still light years ahead of anyone else. But for me there has been nobody more consistent than hazard in the league the last 5 years. He's been MOTM in important matches, always plays well against the top 6 and has delivered two league titles in an...unorthodox run club. Was motm last year in the semi and final of the fa cup. Just a great player. He doesn't always get the goals or the assist but is 99% of the time that spark for us to get a result.
Having said that he still needs to improve in europe as in the cl he has been average.
Nick, there is no way we would have won that 14/15 title without him - that's just a Black and White fact.

Haven't slagged anyone off.
Someone posts an article, people comment, discuss, agree, disagree, whatever.
Seems pretty much what a forum is meant to be about.
Brummie I don't think we would have won the last 2 without him, look at our 10th year finish. It was evident something was wrong with him and we finished 10th. Don't think another team would miss their star player as much as we'd miss hazard.
With sarri implementing his own tactics then maybe we are preparing for life without hazard, this is the most comfortable I have felt if hazard missed a couple games, due to the way we play.
Before breaking teams down without him was near impossible.
Nick, the last title under Conte was more of a team effort but in 14/15 after a good start to the season prior to Xmas we became really poor.
We tried our hardest to throw the title but the other contenders couldn't pick up the baton either.
Hazard was winning points all on his own with litle help from the team.
IMO that team was the worst to win the title that I can remember in the modern era, apart from the Yoonited title wining side in 13, when RVP's goals got them over the line.
