So don't say your economy is strong because it only takes one financial crash like the one in 2008 and the country is in big trouble.
Were there any countries not affected by that financial crash?

Russia and other countries who didn't have banks which had invested in financial crap in the US housing market.
The only banks which did this were were the one in the west.
Hank Paulson tried to sell Lehman Brothers to Barclays but those in the UK government didn't agree as they feared it could had an impact on your economy and the tax player would riot in the streets of Tottenham.

Russia was extremely crippled in 2008 by the huge drop in the price of oil. It had a great recession in 2008 with a year of record negative growth.

Taking the high moral ground against Putin is pure hypocrisy. Our and other secret agencies kill each other on a regular basis, on home or neutral or the others' territory. No one is clean. And the UK government knows this well. Putin is the father of his country and does his job well. As does Trump . Putin is super smart. I wish we had someone of his calibre here.

I'm not sure about that. As far as i know there was no Ukrainian identity until very recently . It was part of Lithuania and then Poland , From 1600s part of of the Austro Hungarian empire which defuncted after WW1 and a brief period of resistance against the emerging USSR. As a country I think it only existed in 1991. My knowledge here is too sketchy but that is what I have been informed. Crimea if I am not mistaken is a largely Russian speaking community. Our troops of course were involved in Crimea, Florence Nightingale and the Light brigade... We possessed parts of it for a while anyways...

Good point, I just googled it. 68% of the country speak Russian and the rest "other languages" as Adam suggested a Slavic based language that is very close to Russian.
