Tried to stop and help a woman who'd horse had be killed last night, ended up plowing her into a swamp filled with alligators.

With the pelts, take all the legendary ones to the trapper and then he will be able to craft you different items of clothing, gun belts etc. from them. You have to pay for him to do that, but once he has got the pelt you can do it at any time. If you get killed before you get the pelt to the trapper, as long as you have saved the game, the pelt will automatically go to the trapper, so can still be used for crafting. You will just miss out on the money you would have got if you sold the pelt to him.
With Parsons at camp, he can use various pelts to craft you improved satchels. If you go to the satchels, it will tell you which pelts you need to donate before you can craft you something from it. Obviously the pelts have to be perfect. If you are in any doubt, the easiest thing to do is go to Parsons and select the pelt that you have and see if there is an option to donate it for crafting. If there is then give it to him. Otherwise donate it to the camp.

One of the trinket items gives you good luck, and this is useful because you get better luck getting perfect pelts, a real time saver

What the fack is supposed to happen when you find someone who's crashed their wagon? How long are you supposed to wait for the fecker to come back?
Both times I've got bored so have ended up looting it.
Why the hell would you wait? I loot it anyway, don’t give a crap about morality points. I even rob the feds who were killed by escaped prisoners
The Buck Antler Trinket gets higher quality animal pelts from skinning. The Elk Antler Trinket increases your money yield from looting. Well worth it
