Yeah I reckon for 3rd, I will counter your last point though.

That we have had utd, arsenal and liverpool.
We have played west ham and newcastle away.

A mixture of tough games and games we usually slip up in.

Would have preferred to have gotten a big boy out the way away from home though.

Chelsea can win it

I don't think they will but they certainly can

I have a sneaky feeling Liverpool will do it this year but that said, I am your garden variety glass is half-full; 'typical City' type of supporter.

Happy to get top 4 this season, feel we're short at the back and lack a quality striker.

Klopp and Pep have been in charge of their respective clubs for some time now so I'd expect them to be ahead of us.

I look at City's squad and they can cope with a few injuries to some of the big players, don't think we or the others could.

If we sign the right players next summer and keep Hazard and Kante we'll challenge.

I think Chelsea have furrked up with two home draws against rivals out of three games. With the league the way it is now, the head to head games are extremely important and a home draw against Liverpool, for example, is a poor result since they'll likely beat Chelsea at Anfield, and that already gives them an extra three points on Chelsea.

Why are they likely to beat us at Anfield?
We brushed em aside there a couple of weeks ago!

Closing the gap is the realistically objective this season. We've started magnificently but there's significant flaws in the squad that'll hold us back. The left side of the pitch is both our greatest asset and our biggest weakness, Alonso & Luiz can be got at and because Jorginho's role isn't meant to be defensive the back four in general needs to be stronger (compared to City & Pool). And in attack, good as we're looking, there's still a VERY long way to go. We still can't hold a candle to Sarri's Napoli, nevermind City or Pool, in terms of movement and understanding each other in attacking transitions. We're not ready yet.

But if we do good business in the summer, there's no reason we couldn't be legit contenders next year. Assuming the season ended today we'd need a lot of help (at least two defenders, a better alternative to Kante, a double edge winger and a striker) but that's what this season is for, seeing who in the current squad can step up. The tease of a title challenge is a distraction in that respect.

i'd also like to know why? They have beaten us at anfield once since 2010, and that was when we rested players for the CL and FA cup finals...where we beat liverpool btw.

1 loss since 2010. Why is it likely they will beat us there?

Just keep playing and improving the execution of Sarri's style of football and see where it takes us. We are playing some good stuff, but we have obvious weaknesses too. As it stands City look like they are on course for another 100 point season, it is their title to lose because of the squad they have..........

You don't think the most likely outcome of Liverpool vs Chelsea at Anfield is a Liverpool win? OK....

But would you say teams rolled over for your last two title wins. Where you won by a distance and were clearly the best team in the league?

Ok fair enough. But its a comment said alot on this site and social media.
Last night was a difficult game to judge on such a bad pitch. Both side made big errors, and missed big chances.

We did the entire league a massive service preventing them from getting Jorginho. They'd probably still utilize Fernandinho in the big matches but against the lesser teams, that they admittedly crush already, they would be something extraordinary. If the opposition got out of town with an 85-15% possession deficit they'd have done well

He's probably hoping Roman is reading this, agrees with him and sacks Sarri.

Which i can understand tbh, if i was a United fan i would probably try my luck with that as well.
