yeah we've been rubbish this season performance wise, played very poorly against rivals Liverpool and could have lost by more and have got away with a few wins where we were hanging on for dear life.

Against Chelsea was our best performance of the season by quite some distance, more of that please.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well we really haven`t been rubbish have we? Otherwise we would be halfway down the table. Most games Spurs won they deserved to win. I laugh when supporters say Spurs were lucky against Wolves, they absolutely cruised into a 3-0 lead, just the last ten minutes they came under the cosh.

What title race? City are still well ahead of the rest.

Er 2 points.

Spurs are only in the title in respect that it's still not even half way to discount anyone.

In all other respects, they're not.

As it stands Spurs like ourselves are in the title mix.

Won’t last for either as I expect city to be 6-7 clear by mid January and then disappear over the horizon and end up winning it by 10-12.

Bit disheartening really we finally have a side capable of challenging and come up against arguably the prems best ever side

Regardless, City are 2 clear despite being without their best player and having most tough away games out the way. There's no indication they will be dropping points anytime soon outside of isolated circumstances.

They are well on course for 100 points again which will mean Spurs can afford to drop 4 more points of their own till May, not going to happen.

All Spurs can do, just like Liverpool, is to try keep within toiching distance of city until it becomes a real title race. If either club are given the opportunity to go top they have to take it and stay ahead of city for the run in.

Not an easy ask...

Of course we're in the title race but it's unlikely we'll win that unless City buckle which they are too consistent to do couple with the occasional 'Spursy' game we have.

It is what it is though - our best isn't good enough but can't complain considering how much City have spent on players.

Average Net Spend last 5 Seasons:
Manchester City: £101m
Spurs: £3.5m

I actually have to agree with Sandy when he says Spurs are one of the most consistent teams in the league. You only have to look at their record. Year in year out, no matter the opposition, you just know that they'll not win the league.

Everybody loves stability and quite frankly, no one really comes to close to Spurs at the moment.

So City are missing one player. Sprus have been missing most of their players all season. City have no excuses for having just one player missing.

I think we are in the title race currently. Our players are showing signs of coming into form and we have injured players returning (or near returning).

The period between now and the New Year is crucial. If we can maintain our form (and results) and remain within touching distance of City by then, then anything is possible.

Team has matured now into a genuine title winning team. Teams usually take 3 or 4 seasons to take shape. That has what has happened at Spurs.

Well said mate. The season is a marathon, not a sprint. Most supporters and pundits were handing the title out in August/September. I fully expect Spurs to easily run down Liverpool, then it will be whether they can catch City.

Can't argue with that, we are a shambles at the moment

You are in much better shape to win something than we are, the question is will you?

Of course Spurs are in the title race. You only have to look at the league table to see that.

If Spurs are only 5 points behind City and 3 from Liverpool without needing a chequebook manager then I think they would be with a wide purchase in January.

I do think you have a good team for sure, but I'd also say you aren't as good as you were a season or two ago. That's only form the outside looking in though.

You don't seem as solid goalkeeper-wise now, you're not as strong at fullback as you were with Walker and Rose. Alli is a very good player, but he's not looking like the player of a couple of years ago at this moment in time.

Let's be real, City look even better this season than last season. We need to hope that they hit a bad run of form for us to have a chance. Luckily for us, I think they will, then it's about how consistent we are.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The real question is - should we?

At the end of the day finances have a huge impact on the calibre of player's you attract. Spending £50m on each position like Man City have done and paying them £100k+ a week will probably make you title favourites...

I'd personally rather enjoy 38 entertaining games and not win anything than do my head in watching Mourinho football even if it means a trophy at the end.

Unfortunately or fortunately - City fans get both the entertaining football and trophies at the end. Paradise for them at the moment.

Aye, that's the kind of mentality your club should avoid, with all due respect.

It's not a title race at the moment and won't be one until at least mid Feb. Spurs us or whoever just need to ensure they're close enough for it to be an actual race come the run in.

Spurs and Liverpool are doing what they need to at the moment to create the chance of a genuine title race.

It's an achievement just to be involved the way we are with the budget we have. Ideally you want both but at the end of the day - I don't care about bragging rights against other fans for a trophy I had no involvement in.

You generally start supporting a team because of the football they way and if you told me tomorrow that Spurs will win the title next season but with Mourinho as manager playing like he is at the moment - not a chance i'd take that.
