He may not be the best manager out there but he could well end up being the best manager for us.

..............

A very important comment there, Diafol.

My reasoning being that Ole 'gets' United and that he'll always put the club first IMO.

Apparently the players are really happy with Ole, particularly his man management, and want him to stay permanently. Whether it’s true or not remains to be seen, but I wouldn’t be surprised, the players have been waxing lyrical about him.

Some of the photos from the training ground show a much less tense atmosphere where players look like they are being coached instead of lectured.

Yeah there’s quite obviously a completely different atmosphere at the club now. How long that lasts is another matter. How we react to our first defeat under Ole will be telling.

In years gone by you'd think that this was a bit of a concern in a way. However, the modern footballer, in general, seems to respond better to the arm round the shoulder technique and Ole seems a nice guy who will do that. I've been impressed by him in interviews though saying that we can do better which hopefully means the players won't rest on their laurels.

I know people have laughed about the 'first big test' but Spurs on the weekend it certainly that. It's the first game we won't be favourites in under him and his approach to the game will be interesting.

I think we'll go with his preferred, IMO, front three of Lingard, Rashford and Martial with Pogba, Herrera and Matic behind. With that though I'd expect our full-backs to perhaps, initially be a bit more cautious, as I'm sure Spurs will fancy a fast start. Weather that storm and I can see us getting a positive result.

We just need to make sure Ole is a Pep rather than a Di Matteo. Hopefully the former. I hope he has to lay out a long term plan for if he gets the job and can convince the higher ups he knows what he’s doing

What? We're not losing under the 'Anyone's preferable to Jose One!'

The photo that Rashford Tweeted speaks a thousand words. The players look relaxed and happy and completely engaged in what Ole is telling them. The body language is positive and that kind of togetherness within a camp can be just as important as tactics.

Would love Ole to get the full time job, with us doing some proper searching far and wide for the perfect DOF to work above him.

Really not something you should be proud of, Nobb. No one likes a bet welcher.

I have a feeling that he might play Luaku, and perhaps it wouldn't be a bad move. Spurs have an extra game through the week and our lads should be fresh after their break. So it might be wise to look to keep it tight for the first hour or so, with a view to winning the game in the final third, bringing on some pace for the final stages of the game?

I am really interested in seeing how he approached this game.

It’s nice to have a happy camp.

I wouldn’t start Lukaku, Rashford needs to start. He’s in good form and plays better than Lukaku in big games. We’ve looked at our best and most fluid with Libgard, Rashford and Martial starting. Would like to continue that, and it gives us a better platform to counter attack.

They’ll work their defenders harder as well, making it more beneficial for Sanchez and Lukaku coming off the bench than vice versa.

I'd personally rather see that. Just got a feeling he might opt for a different approach, but we will see.

I think Lukaku and Rashford might start together

Tough to judge Lukaku in big games as under Jose we sat back. Scored against Spurs home and away under Martinez

I’m basing it on his whole career, where he regularly flatters to deceive.

Hes scored 5 goals in his last 8 games so is in form

I'd rather my front three Elvis but if Lukaku starts I hope he'll prove us wrong. Think he would be a better option off the bench though. I think we may start off quite sluggish after being in the warmer climes and that Spurs may start quickly so the more energetic trio I've listed should get the start.

Having thought about it though Ole may throw a curve in there and start Sanchez instead of Martial because of the energy the Chilean can bring as well as his decent record at Wembley and against Spurs.

Lukaku has had more than his fair chances in the big games despite Jose’s tactics. The Manc derby at OT last season where he could’ve at least equalised in the last minute, and not forgetting his assist for City in their goal.

No debate there for me. Martial - Rashford - Lingard has to be the front 3. The understanding and interchange between the 3 of them (and Pogba) is crucial to the way we've been playing recently.

There is a possibility Ole starts Lukaku given his recent goals and moves Rashford over to the left. If he does it will be his first big mistake IMO.

All the players get a clean slate for me and if they can perform now that's all that matters.

In terms of Lukaku having chances in the big games. It's true, he has. That was with Jose's tactics though. I'd expect him to get more chances with Ole (and work harder of course) and throughout his career, despite his deficiencies, he has proven effective at putting the ball into the back of the net.
