Lukaku is probably still quite respected in Football as a striker and we'd easily get £50m+ for him.
The issue is that he isn't the best striker in the team. And while some have mooted him on the right, he isn't that good amongst the other options we have.
Rashford is the better player and younger. While not on Lukaku's level when it comes to finishing yet, there isn't much in it.
It will be folly to start Lukaku against any of the big teams. We need players who can control.

I feel that Ole likes Lukaku a lot more than people on here think. Despite the disrespect a lot of our more basic fans give him, Lukaku is a well respected striker with a very good goals record for his age.
Ole was a striker and will want to get the best out of him and relish the challenge
-----------------------
You feel that Ole likes Lukaku (as a player) because that is what you want to believe. I think that he might feel that Lukaku isn't particularly intelligent in his play.
Now, that isn't to say that he won't do his very best to get as much as he can out of Lukaku performance wise. And he may think that Lukaku is a good option to have for certain games/off the bench. But I am more inclined to believe that Ole will favour a more more dynamic forward line of Rash, Martial, Jesse and/or Sanchez, as it is more in keeping with our traditions as a club. Also, those 4 are more capable of pressing the opposition than Lukaku is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ultimately we’ll have to see. Time shall tell. I think we’ll all be interested to see who is picked on Sunday

In the PL, Lukaku scores a goal every 6.0 shots. Rashford scores a goal every 6.8 shots. So not much in it really.

I know Lukaku is in form, but so is Rashford and my point is that Rashford has regularly outshone him in the big games. You can try and use Mourinho as an excuse (which is funny reading now) but it doesn’t wash when the comparison is with Rashford playing in tbe same team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To my immense credit that was always one of my few gripes under Jose - how isolated Lukaku was in big games
Good to see Robb is backtracking as usual.
He'll be saying he never liked Jose if we beat Spurs
Jesus elvis, im gonna have to write that again

Everyone else's gripe was that he can't control a football and his movement is non existent and he was lazy.
No it wasn’t. You used to complain about the rest of the team letting him down and not providing him with enough chances. Not that Mourinho was leaving him isolated.
But that doesn’t really refute my point. Rashford played in the same team.

I literally used to talk about it all the time
to be honest Robb you talk about a lot of things
Elvis, that's why I said there isn't much in it. Rashford is younger so has more scope to improve. He's already better at most other aspects than Lukaku and now is using his strength as well.

Agreed. Hopefully with Ole coaching him, finishing is an area of his game that he can improve. He has missed a lot of good chances this season, but seems to have improved somewhat the last 5 weeks or so.
You’ve literally started saying it recently.
Rashford’s development as a striker is an interesting one in terms of goal scoring. He’s not on the level of the top strikers in Europe, but at similar ages his goals record compares quite well. I was looking up some stats and surprisingly it seems to be the age of about 23 where most seem to have their breakout seasons as a goal scorer. Not saying he will, but he has only just turned 21.
Rashford will be class I reckon. He looks to have a great attitude.

Its a funny one isn't it? When It think about clinical strikers in the prem I would have Aguero and Kane up there - and they are up there. But their shots to goals ratio isn't that much better than Lukaku's. And Rashford isn't too far behind Lukaku - certainly not when he is played as a striker:
Kane - 5.46
Aguero - 5.67
Lukaku - 6.03
Rashford - 6.83
Every now and then I find it good fun to go back through Nobb's drivel and see what gems can be found.

All the talk this year for who wins the title is between City and Liverpool but I don’t think we can fully rule out United. We have a manager who no matter what you think of his style is a winner and we have the advantage of barely any pressure to win the league this season.

I think so too. And yet some of our own fans on here aren't at all convinced. I think that he has all the minerals to make a superb striker. He just needs polishing up now. Ole would be a great man to take on that challenge.

For all his other attributes, I've always suspected that Rashford's mentality could be his greatest strength. He's not as naturally gifted as e.g. Martial, but he comes across as particularly determined, focused, and ready to work on his game. I think that's why he has seized a lot of the opportunities that came his way (goals on debuts, etc.).
