The game itself I thought was reasonably entertaining but whenever either side got into the final third it all seemed to fizzle out.

But but we got Giroud and Morata. Maybe those guys can now see the difference between a top striker and these two. Wasting opportunities

At least you can brag about the attendance

OP Marginal as you say but correct though, that's why VAR is there.
Replay shows ONSIDE (level) and the most stonewall pen ever.
Only saw the 2nd half, Chelsea did well but didnt create anything of note. Considering the amount of possession one might have expected a bit more than so many shots from distance.

Good evening Palmers. Unfortunately for us, unless we can unearth a proper striker in this window, it's going to be a familiar theme for us for the rest of the season - loads of possession but few goals.

Congrats on your win tonight - lets hope it's another good game in a few weeks!

Yeah, just but the annoying thing is in the last month we've had three disallowed that were just as close. I wish they'd use VAR for all games so it's a level playing field from game to game.

Didn’t think you were unlucky more a case of lack of quality. Playing Hazard as a striker is a waste. He’s not any better than your actual strikers because he’s not even getting any chances to miss. And it impacts your other wide players who did fack all because they didn’t have anyone to pick out in the box.

You defended quite well and controlled the game, but a lot of that was to do with how bad Spurs were. Luckily for them you made it easy for them to defend. Poor from both sides tonight, I thought. But a good win for Spurs in the context of how the game played out.

You were definitely the better team tonight the Xmas period looked to have caught up with us as we are usually the ones bossing possession.

I’m not totally confident of us defending our lead if we play like that. Was the complete opposite of the league game, you totally dominated tonight.

Yes you do lack a focal point up front. The decision to let Costa now seems really bizarre now.

I dunno, he’s scored less than Morata since going back to Atletico.

Has he Darren ?

Not really checked La Liga much but Costa was a beast

And they've been talking about Higuain who's scored something like 1 in 16!

You've gotta or you'll just

He’s scored once in the league and four in all comps. Two of those were against Madrid in the super cup, so he’s only scored in 3 of the 15 games he’s played this season. He’s been awful since he went back there.

Does that matter? He was playing in a system that suited him here and had an understanding with Hazard. What he does at Atletico has no bearing on what he was doing here. It doesn't have to be Costa anyway. The point is Morata has been off the boil for a year and the board did not address it in the summer.

Agree with all that Brum. I said before that the gulf that we witnessed in the recent League game wasn't a true reflection of the gap between these 2 teams, tonight was more of a true indicator, but the difference for me is that Spurs have a proper Centre Forward who gives them a cutting edge that we don't currently have.

The second Leg is going to be interesting as both teams are still in the tie.

Had we had Kane we could've walked away with an unassailable lead.
I would sit CHO down with his agent and give him a proper deal and a promise that he will be given a fair shot at a first team spot. I couldn't bear another DeBruyne situation

posted on 8/1/19

Because Costa doesn’t know how to play in Atleti’s system.

Looking more and more like Costa’s on the slide. He hasn’t been in good form since the first half of Chelsea’s 16/17 season. Granted he didn’t play for half a season, but that’s a long time to be in poor form when you are his age, so I don’t think getting rid was a massive mistake. Replacing him with Morata was.

Unlucky brummie.

If your club gets rid off CHO then it’s time to shut down mate. He’s going to be exceptional. Huge huge talent

I have a feeling it might be too late and out of our hands.

His agents are his family and I wouldn't mind betting it's them that see him as their golden goose and driving this.

It wouldn't be beyond the realms of reality that the parasites from Munchen have already promised them a sweetner to deliver him. They're notorious in Germany for keeping their opposition in place by buying all their best players - looks like they're spreading their net a bit wider now.

I think the only hope is to tell Munchen to fack off and do our best between now and May to convince him to stay!
