I think we need to ask ourselves, could United get out of this rut and become one of the best clubs in Europe again. The answer to that is yes whether we like it or not. They are a massive club and I suspect we will see them re emerge again in the next few years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No guarantee mate. Liverpool were the biggest club side in the world in the 80s and went through a massive transition period during the 90s. Who’s to say United won’t go another 5/6 years in transition struggling ? They have been in transition since Fergie left and don’t seem to be improving anytime soon. Other clubs have taken over since and Spurs have emerged aswell. Long way to go for United mate.

Don't think Liverpool of the 80's have the money and prestige like we have

Spurs fans getting big for their boots after a couple of higher placed finished.
At least we've won a league title in this decade. Spurs won't be the same level as United. You haven't won anything of note, I am hoping you beat Liverpool in the CL final, but if Spurs fans think they're a bigger pull than United and act like this...
Your wage structure isn't even close to ours. The most you've spent on a player is £42mil, not even half of what we bought Pogba for.
You've not even won any trophies in the last 10 years to compare to what we have won. Last year we finished 2nd don't forget.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Big for our boots ? We are in the CL final. You couldn’t dream of United achieving that right now. Just because you were once a great prospect, doesn’t mean you are anymore. Giants fall mate and you have fallen a long time ago.

Go and play with someone else, child.
My question to United fans would be, can you say you are proud of where you are? Are you proud that you are a bigger pull than us? Are you proud that you can tempt the likes of Griezmann, Sanchez etc, just because your club can offer higher wages then the likes of Spurs?
Obviously we're all just fans here, none of us have a direct impact on what our club does and we're just supporters. But I'm very proud of how my club operates. I don't think that, after the last few years, I'd be able to say that as a United fan right now.

No this is what you said
Spurs fans, answer me honestly... if you are Antoine Griezmann and you're asked which club from Spurs and Man Utd is most likely to win the Premier League next?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do you need to be Griezmann?
Spurs clearly are in a much better position to be Champions over the next 5 years.
If it comes down to wages the player would go to United, there are players United can attract because of that that Spurs can't even consider.
When you get to guys like Zaha, Wan-Bissaka etc Spurs have got to be more appealing. They play CL, they have a top manager and a new stadium so are well positioned to continue growing.
United haven't even stopped the rot yet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why are they in a better position?
I'd argue that they've reached their limits. Unless something changes with the way their club is run, they cannot catch City.
So you were suggesting United were in a better position to win the league in the next 5 years than Spurs, i am telling you they are not.

The Griezmann point is that only united and city could afford him. Even Liverpool a far more attractive club than united couldn't afford him for £110m + £400k per week.
But any realistic player Liverpool wanted, a £60m, £200k per week player would choose them over United.
I would think most young players, your £40m, £120k per week player would choose spurs now.

CL Final... But what have you even won in the last 10...20 years?
I've always had a soft spot for Spurs, and I'd have liked to see them claim the CL even before Liverpool being in the final meant they absolutely must win it. And more recently, it's very impressive what Levy and Pochettino have built.
If we take the emotion out of the question, there is no blanket answer to the 'which club is more attractive to players?' question. There have always been players (not least Bale) who chose Spurs over United, even when we were regularly several places higher - maybe the opportunity seemed a better fit for the particular player at that particular time. So it's very plausible that a key target would choose the Spurs project at a time when Spurs are finishing higher than us most seasons, and have a sense of momentum and that beautiful new stadium.
By the same token, it would be complacent of opposition teams to assume that United's current turmoil is permanent. It's the universal vice of football fans that we assume that the patterns of recent history will be replicated in the future. But a couple of good decisions and astute appointments can change a laughing stock into a very credible project. United certainly have the resources to finance such a project. They might also be in a position to attract young, hungry, talented players who want rapid progression to the starting XI in a way that Spurs can't now (a reversal of the dynamic that took Bale to Spurs). Is a talented young Portuguese attacking midfielder going to be more confident of displacing Christian Eriksen or Jesse Lingard? Add to that the fact that he'll possibly be paid 50% more to do the latter. Add the global profile and, yes, romance of the United shirt (which will, yes, diminish the longer we're rubbish) and I think there's a strong case to say United can be competitive in the market.
Frankly, what worries me much more than persuading players to choose us is our club's capacity to choose the right players.

Very fair response. And I'm not ignoring the fact that the reason United have more money, prestige, and pull than us is because of their overall success in recent times, i.e. the last 20-30 years, when compared to us, for example. There are players out there, no matter what type, i.e. young with potential or experienced, who sign for United just so they will be able to say they played at Old Trafford where Scholes, Bekham, Keane et al plied their trade. I genuinely believe that.

I'm unsure why Spurs are so giddy.
They've got a stadium to pay off, a manager who has hinted at leaving more than once and their best players might leave.
A CL win may actually have a negative affect on the medium term future for the club.

Well done for getting there but you can’t deny you have been extremely fortunate along the majority of the way

That's your version. I'd say that we manage to win the games that mattered in the league part and even went to a barca and got a result. Smashed Dortmund. Then Hugo saved a penalty and we scored 3 at City (something not many teams do) and had decisions go correctly. Didn't give up when 2 down v Ajax and kept going. Yes we were a little fortunate but you need that in Cup competitions. Your 1999 CL win had alot of luck too but it was earnt
We are there on merit and merit alone.

Didn't say you do.
I copied and pasted a comment from earlier, in reply to a Spurs fan, accepting that both clubs have issues and that it's debatable who will solve those issues first.
What don't you understand?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No this is what you said
Spurs fans, answer me honestly... if you are Antoine Griezmann and you're asked which club from Spurs and Man Utd is most likely to win the Premier League next?

No, I'm not proud of where we are. It's a mess.
I don't think the only reason that big names would come to United is money, though. It's more than that.
I have been very vocal in my praise of how Spurs is run. I think it's superb and I'm pleased you're doing well.

Not at all. Just think this guys playing down Spurs and making out United have a God’s given right to be up there. Facts prove united are nowhere near the level they once were and highly likely to reach that level
For a long time. Spurs are on the up and have been for years. Could you see United getting to a CL final right now ? Not a chance

Are you on the up though?
Look at your form since January. You fluked getting to cl final and you could well lose two of your better players

How did we fluke getting to the CL final? No fluke whatsoever. There on merit and bitter fans like you can't change that.

God how bloody bitter is this United fan. Didn’t get outplayed by Ajax whatsoever. Got outplayed by Ajax in the 1st half at home, then were miles the better team in the 2nd half. Got outplayed by Ajax away in the 1st half, then were miles the better team 2nd half and deserved our win. How did Ajax outplay us throughout both legs ? Dortmund we absolutely smashed to pieces. City we beat at home and got 3 goals at the Etihad, more than deserved to go through. You are bitter mate. Spurs are in the CL final on merit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
CL Final... But what have you even won in the last 10...20 years?
posted on 17/5/19
I've always had a soft spot for Spurs, and I'd have liked to see them claim the CL even before Liverpool being in the final meant they absolutely must win it.
