Did he play well for England? Didn't think so.

He did in the few games he had played

Bellingham deeper in a midfield 3 is what I would have more liked Dele to be though and more sustainable for his career too.

Deles success was in quite a unique position. He totally thrived though and his stats were definitely there for all to see in that respect.

Yeah, very much over & forgotten about Dele but won't rewrite history around him. For a 2/3 year period what he was doing at his age was ridiculous

Which is strange as that’s how he made his name at Mk.

Remember watching him at 16 dominating midfields

one of those things where what made him in the end broke him, as he went back to that position later in a declining set up, after thriving in a niche role before.

just wait to see what happens to Bellingham when he gets picked up by Boohooman

No he didnt, he was very good - I remember I was there (you can even see me in that video).

The only other game he played after that at 19 was against Germany in the 3-2 win where he was decent.

I dunno why you are bringing up him after the age of 19 when this is what its all about ffs

Because he was not at the same level for country at the age of 19. That's my point. Statswise for club he was but not for England.

Easy to hind behind stats but on the eye test he was average in 90 minutes. A few flicks and megs here and there and some are sucking him off lol

He was also awful in the USA game so do we count that against him?

Off course not

He only played 2 full 90s at the age of 19.

Its such an irrelevant point

He was good enough in the two games he played but its such a small sample size it shouldnt be counted or exluded ffs

Why was he not chosen to play more games or chosen at the age of 18? Because he was not at Bell, Rooney or Owen's level.

Hope the penny drops soon...

are we not talking about when they are 19 though?

Dele rise was more sudden due to being picked up by a premier league club from a league one club at an older age than Bellingham was when he went Dortmund

posted on 8/12/22

There's definitely a decent argument to be made that Bellingham is better at 19 than Dele was. Though performances for England are not it. Not alone anyway, the sample size is way too small.

posted on 8/12/22

Anyway. Rooney and Owen were better than both at that age

So theres this amazing thing called "time" right. Dele Alli was born on an even year (ie a year ending in 0,2,4,6,8).

World Cups & Euros are also (almost always) on even years - so as a result Dele isn't physically capable to play a tournament at 19 like Jude or Rooney. He managed to play for England in his first PL season at the age of 19 and performed well in the few (and very small sample size) games he did.

I don't think what he has/hasn't done for England makes any sense in the debate.
