I'd sooner take a centre back who has experience over here if they're available. Even Bastoni represents a risk as a young foreign player.

It's tricky cos Maguire and Laporte would be grate signings for Conte. But if we're considering a manager that wants to play a high line, not so much.

Maybe that's why we're holding off until the summer. We can't just blindly back Conte if he's not going to commit. I've got a feeling he's already told the hierarchy he's off in the summer. The player's we're bringing in now aren't really for Conte. They're for the club.

Could be. I don't buy that with Porro, though.

I think in most positions that you’d sign for Conte it would suit the next manager too. Maybe CB and wingbacks being the exceptions

I think given porro's age you could convince levy that it's not a Conte-focused signing

Yeah it's not a bad signing for the club either way. But I doubt that'd be the priority given the club just signed Spence.

started 16/19 league games for them this season

wouldn't be able to get him till the summer because he's technically on loan at juventus and they have an obligation to buy in the summer but he's very good

I think now's the perfect time for it. They're strapped for cash, almost certainly out of the CL next season, and any transfer will have loads of scrutiny on it. AFAIK titty's not actually banned until the appeals go through. So yeah.

I'd take Maguire off United's hands. I still think there's a good defender in there but his confidence is shattered at United.

That was part of the reason for mentioning him. If we bring in Danjuma and Porro and loan out Spence then our homegrown quota is very light. For a cut down price we could have a genuine England starter in the backline. If he recaptured anything like his Leicester form, he'd be brilliant. I'd go for him at around £30-35m. See if United bite.

It won't happen now though as they're not about to strengthen a top four rival. Haven't City got a surplus of centre backs? I wonder what a cheeky bid for Laporte or Diaz would do. Neither of them start these days.
