In terms of sales, does the club look at it in terms of amortised costs off the books (to be replaced by amortised fees of new players), or as money through the door?).

In terms of amortisation, the biggest annual costs will be Ndombele £9m, Reguillon £7m, GLC £8m plus the likes of Sess Emerson £5m, PEH £3m.

Shift that lot and it's the equivalent of spending £155m in fees and having a neutral impact on our costs, for accounting purposes.

In each case if we make a profit then that also adds a one off boost to revenues.

I think the break even on each player is as follows

Ndombele £9m
GLC £8m
Sess end of contract
PEH £3m
Reguillon £7
Emerson £10m

So get rid of that lot for anything more than £35m and we make player profit too.

Skipp and Tanganga would be pure profit. As would Parrot. And Davies would be almost entirely profit as he's been with us 9 years already.

actually my maths above was wrong. Get rid of that lot (6 players) and it's the equivalent of about £185m in spending, amortised over 5 years. But in doing so we would need to add a back up RB & LB, 2 CMs/DMs and we need a striker too, and probably a CB.

Looking at our last accounts, our amortisation was very high, jumped up by quite a bit. I do think that we will be looking to reduce that so while off loading the 6 players above may save £37m in the annual costs, I don't think we will look to spend it all, unless we can significantly reduce the wage bill to off set it

Living of his brothers hype

I think certain players in the youth team have potential but they have done nothing at mens level yet except maybe Phillips, Devine and Parrott

Jobe has played 45 times in the championship in midfield and forward aged 18. That type of experience should not be frowned upon. He is a big lad as well and can take care of himself.

Donley is 19, Devine is 19, Lankshear is 19.

Jobe is way ahead right now and comes from good stock. He is not living off anyone's reputation, he had earned his place in Sunderland's team throughout the season.

Jordan James of Brum is another lad we should keep an eye on.

Average player that goes missing more often than not.

A player we don’t need to waste time or money on

You can't write him off at his age.

The gap between U21's and mens football is massive. At one point Donley and Dorrington looked close but they have sufferred with injuries.
They often play against 16 and 17 years old as well more older players

Lankshear had a really bad injury last season so fair play to him for staying fit the season just gone and banging them in.

Thats why teams like City, utd, Liverpool and others give youngsters game time in the prem league, it is a massive step up and needs to be managed slowly
