Romero:
"I'm the first to hold my hands up and say it wasn't the best season [22/23] but when I got offers from other clubs to move away for this coming season, I said no because I want to have my best years here. I really like the Premier League, I really like Tottenham and I want to be here for many more years to come,"

I hope he does stay the only point I made earlier was that Madrid CAN get in a Ayers ear and if the fee was high enough Spurs could be tempted? Thought your DC pairing was about as good as any other in the EPL so if he stays, and for what it's worth I really think he will another season together and they will get even better
Tottenham Hotspur are distancing themselves from any such reports linking central defender Christian Romero with a possible move to Real Madrid.

I feel like it's much more a team effort than we've probably ever had. Lange and co have a proven track record but obviously there's no point making signings that are good on paper if the manager don't like them.
Who do we get? Sesko ain't leaving, Gyokeres would be hecking expensive, I don't get why Newcastle would agree to sell Isak at any price that isn't insane.. leaves us with second tier options, really, who might not be better than Richarlison.
I'm on record flip flopping on who I want but I think whoever it is, (and ST or RW) they need to be a marquee signing to push us on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I doubt we will sign a marquee player but probably someone who can become one (probably for Real Madrid lol).

Standard. Three years left on his contract. They will have to make a wild offer.
There are Premier League clubs interested in signing Joe Rodon permanently, following his impressive loan spell at Leeds

Southampton and Ipswich then
Rumored loan to buy.. frigging CL clubs pleading poverty

I think Ange will be left with another squad which will be short of having two good players in each position.
Fab
Real Madrid remain attentive to Alphonso Davies situation, depending on what he decides after Bayern new deal proposal.
No decision made yet, but it’s expected to be soon.
---------------------
Consider the outlay for the Mbappe (Signing on fee £85m) and Endrick, Davies would cost alot and seems more of a priority than Romero.
Guessing Real would have to sell a player or two before buying either Davies and/or Romero?

tbf that seems to be the case every year
I just have a feeling we're now all on the same page behind the scenes
My main gripe over the years has been this thing where journos like Ali G have said things like 'we need bodies in that position' or a regular one which is 'we already have X in that position'
It gives off vibes that we're just plugging gaps, rather than actually signing the desired players we want
A prime example of this was during the Jose era when we signed players in posiitons we were light in, and the general consensus was that we'd filled problem areas, not taking into account that either the players were schitt, or just weren't right for what we needed
It was deemed a successful window as we got a striker (Vinicius), a reserve keeper (Hart), a central midfielder (Fernandes), a centre Back (Rodon), all of whom were just literally gap fillers.
Utter waste of time, money and effort
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tottenham’s recruitment department has been transformed in the last 12 months
🧑💻 Johan Lange is the architect of these changes & has introduced a data-led approach
📝 This is how it will all work in the transfer market
@TheAthleticFC
As long as Johan and Ange are alligned in their approach this window, hopefully that era will be long gone. And based on last summer, you can see evidence of the new approach.

Yeah agree with you on Werner. Kind of forgot we signed him. Glad it's a loan only and we could potentially have Moore waiting in the wings.

Don't they just get the national bank to write off all their debts so they're clear on FFP
Or did they stop doing that

Yep and I stand by it. I believe in Kulu. That's one position.
No Back Up Keeper, RB, LCB, LB, RW and CM.
We need to buy 6 positions.
