For me too. At least in the short term. He'll fack things up
For west ham for example assuming no injuries, for me
---------------Lloris
Aurier Toby Dier Reguilón
---------------PEH
-------Ndombele--Gio
Bergwijn---Kane---Son
Hart, Doherty, Sanchez, Sissoko, Lucas, Dele, Bale
its very nice to have the options for all kinda games and set ups, with more adequate cover for inevitable injuries, too.
I knkw EL important obvs but don't want Kane travelling to the away group ties tbh now we have another striker we have to have enough there to get through ties without him and Son.
I obvs prefer Doherty but harsh to drop Aurier atm see if he can do it for more than one game in a row in the league.

Interesting there's a consensus on Sanchez. Well he's my hill to die on now. I think we'll all be calling world class and the second coming of Ledley by the end of the season.
And I'll deny all evidence to the contrary until he's sold.

Sandy's filtered list is a collection of the finest posters on JA, congrats on making it ace
I certainly hope you’re right Bales. To me he’s a total pu55y. Frightened on the ball. Bullied by attackers.
But he’s young. He showed glimpses of being a good player in his first season. Hopefully it’s just a confidence thing and Jose will pump him up so much that he’s bossing strikers and is assured in his passing and decision making.
On Sanchez yeah he's far from the finished article as we all know. Thing is you can't train that physicality he's got. Man's a beast he just needs to calm it down and he'll be top class. IMVHHO
I think Sanchez will come good eventually - it probably hasn’t helped how stop/start his last couple years have been. Hasn’t been able to pick up any momentum since his first season.
I think we should aim for 80-85 points. It’s not too unrealistic a target and who knows it might be enough this season.
Someone made a good point on twitter as well - not to take anything away from Jose but it’s tough to know how much of this is down to the fact that Kane has the physical capacity to sprint and run consistently like he had before.
Kane at 100% could even make Solskjaer look a good manager
Sanchez needs to either become more physically imposing or better on the ball
Hard to be a top quality CB if you're poor in the air and a disaster on the ball
Completely agree with all of those points gents.
The only thing I'll say to that is that he can be trained to get better on those aspects. You ain't training Toby to be younger and quicker, or Dier to be able to turn and run.
King will make a star out of him. You'll see.
He’s really strong though, his issue is that he came from the Dutch league where he could just push everybody off the ball and then realised too late than Rondon, Wilson etc are tanks as well . Meant he kept throwing himself off balance against these guys and embarrassing himself, should just stick to his pace and leave the weaker, quicker guys to bounce off him.
Yeah makes sense Edin. I think PL strikers are wiser to that kind of play, too. It's not enough to be strong, you've got to be savvy with it. I'm thinking how Dawson used to give away a foul pretty much every time he strayed from penalty area or how Crouch won a fk almost every time they came for him..

When was the last stand-out good game he had? Not digging him out. Genuinely can’t think of one where I was left thinking...Davinson was quality today.

Yeah I get you Ace, but let's not bring the Spammers into this unless you actually want a scrap.
I think there was plenty in his first season flashy. Granted that was in a three or alongside one of the Belgians in their prime but he can do it. He'll be sweet with the right coaching. Trust.

It’ll help Sanchez if we have a midfield that actually offers some protection. For the longest time after Dembele left and Wanyama blew up I was watching Toby trying to do his job, Sissoko’s job and Trippiers job all at once.
I wrote about our signings and posted it on the wrong bleedin thread, but I’m liking what I’m seeing of Højbjerg so far -
The key signing for me though is Højbjerg. Kind of gone under the radar but I love that we got a player with leadership qualities, at a good price, good age, and addressed an area of genuine need. People said at the time it was a case of us having to shop at Lidl, but we’ve shown since that we’re prepared to spend which shows that PEH was simply a player Jose has identified early as a key signing.
What we’ve missed, massively, since Dembele left is someone that can make those interceptions deep and transition the ball forward quickly. Dembele used to moved it forward with his powerful dribbling, PEH plays the forward passes early after winning possession. It makes such a difference to it ability to both defend and attack when you have someone that hunts the ball down and transitions play effectively. This is the kind of unglamorous but highly astute signing that can really make a difference to a team.

What I really like about him is that he seems to absolutely love that role too. Winning the ball back and moving it on is as important to him as scoring a goal is for Harry.
Loved that fist pump celebration when Aurier won a tackle on Sunday. Think we were 5-1 up at that point too.
