Saliba is 18, a prospect at best who we were never seriously in for as Arsenal had agreed personal terms long before that link was even made. £30m and he’s back off on loan.
Really? Ornstein says otherwise
----------------------------------------------------------------------
OrnsteinYou mug GT. The guy is a mouthpiece for Arsenal, they feed him titbits of info they want out there and it appeases agitated Arsenal fans to think they’ve got one over on Spurs in the transfer market.

Erm Saliba confirmed it

Sandy, Sandy, Sandy... I really don't know why I'm doing this, but here you go...
PL transfer spend so far this summer:
Aston Villa – £112million
Leicester City – £78million
West Ham United – £69million
Manchester City – £67.9million
Tottenham Hotspur – £66.5million
Manchester United – £65million
Southampton – £49million
Wolverhampton Wanderers – £45million
Chelsea – £40.2million
Newcastle United – £40m
Everton – £30.5million
Brighton & Hove Albion – £22.5million
Sheffield United – £22million
Bournemouth – £17million
Burnley – £11.5million
Arsenal – £6million
Watford – £5.5million
Norwich City – £3.65m
Liverpool – £1.3million
Crystal Palace – £0
Now... go have a beer!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Drinking beer dehydrates you in hot weather. Not a good combination.
Aston Villa a promoted side, spent twice as much as Spurs a CL side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandy Fulham spent over a hundred Million last year whereas we spent nothing - we got to the CL final, Fulham conceded from a Harry Winks header.
Shiiiit teams have to do more business. Villa and Spurs are shopping in different markets, truth be told so are Arsenal - they wouldn’t have stood a chance of getting Ndombele and they won’t rival us for Lo Celso even tho he would walk into their team

The Ceballos deal really is a small club deal
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's actually quite a sensible deal for all involved.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The deal is such that within the money constraints, yes possibly but you need to see the bigger picture
Arsenal are so fallible at the back and need to move on Mustafi, the other two as well and need to evaluate whether to keep Koscielny too.
Defense strengthening is a must for Arsenal
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Absolutely.
Our interest in Zaha is understandable, but nearly every Gooner I know is hoping more for another CB.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am shocked that someone as experienced as Emery, that he didn't look at getting defenders in, even if on loan so that it gives the club time to sort itself, and maybe a good run in cups to get money for next season to solidify further?
Shocking!
If we sign Lo Celso and Dybala next week, with Eriksen signing a new contract then Sandy will just moan that we haven’t bought a 3rd choice keeper yet and how that will derail our season

Or about how all these signings will stop the younger players progressing.
I bet he shouts and moans at the TV every time there is a story on the news he doesn’t like.
An awful desperate piece of business taking a young player on loan, training and developing him, only for him to return to his parent club a better player. That is a deal Spurs simply would not do, we are better than paying to train up and develop our European rivals players.

Guys this sniping over Ceballos is silly. It's a good bit for the Goonies. They have limited budget because they can't get CL. So they loan an excellent midfielder who could (won't) get them back in the CL, thereby affording them a bigger budget and therefore they can replace Ceballos next season.
The Saliba move however, especially paying half their budget up front, is totally perplexing.
