There was marginal contact then abranhams threw himself uop in an unnatrual way.
My view is as the Ref gave it then VAR said ok, well I can't disprove its not a pen as there was contact.
Rightly or wrongly the onfield decision was respected.
Look at the first ashes test. the umpires bascially got nearly every wicket decision wrong on the first day. The umpires on field decision was crucial and if its umpires call you have to walk if he gives you out.
So no VAR didn't save us, but i'd be more concerned you had seemingly ZERO images from the reverse side. I hope var did.

There was contact so VAR aren't going to overrule a ref.
Be good if she looked at the screen herself to come to a decision.

I doubt you did, but admitting it wouldn’t suit the online persona you’ve created, would it?
I thought the use of var was on the QT last night!
The ball struck a Chelsea players hands early on and virtually no pics or footage!
Same for the pen!

Kind of my point really. If a ref makes a subjective decision in real time, they should be the ones that have the final say so that they’re still held accountable for the decision.
If it was me and I looked at it from again from the proper angle, I’m changing my mind and giving a yellow to the Chelsea player.
There was contact. Ref calls it. VAR then has to then prove that she made a mistake. It couldn't. So penalty stands. Quite simple really.
Oh, and you have Salah. I'm guessing you're concerned that he won't win as many, ahhmm, questionable pens this season.
Good game. We were the better team for the most part and lost on a lottery. No dramas. Lots of positives.
Didn't your keeper admit that there was contact after the game?
Blatant dive for me, yellow card was my first impression 👍

How do you think I’m concerned Salah won’t get as many penalties, when I’m highlighting that a penalty was given for diving? Going by last night, he’ll still be getting as many penalties.
Daft comment really.....
VAR didn't want to be sexist
How that wasn't overturned I'll never know
The fall was ridiculous despite a flick on the knee
Justice was done when he missed the pen though in the shootout. He literally looked like he was going to cry before he took it too

Your keeper said there was contact so I would have thought that would constitute a penalty. Maybe I'm wrong. Perhaps the theatrical fall is clouding the issue here. But that's irrelevant if there was actually contact made.

No he said Tammy tried to run into him and managed to flick his glove. Believe it or not but it is ok for 2 players to touch each other in the box and it doesn't have to be a pen. That was a clear dive and it was a clear and obvious error from the official but shockingly not overturned.

Does that matter? What matters is that your keeper stated there was contact. The ref calls it. VAR doesn't see enough evidence to over rule. Tammy's theatrics have got in the way of the mechanics of the process.
There wasn't enough contact to justify any type of fall, the theatrical way he went down all pointed to this.
If this sets the precedent that a pen cannot be overturned if there is any contact then VAR will be a massive flop imo

Tried to run into him? And he knew that was his intention how exactly? Your keeper came flying out and caught him with his glove then. So it's a pen. Glad we got that sorted.

Well I guess Salah will still be buying pens this season by your logic then.
And what do you mean "not enough contact" ? two players flying in, contact made and you are of the opinion that there wasn't "enough" contact

Of course it matters. I’m talking about how VAR is not fit for purpose if a subjective decision can’t be overturned. I know that as it is currently set up, last nights decision couldn’t be overturned.
Tammy was going to ground whatever, there’s no way he was brought down by the keeper, he just anticipated there was going to be some form of contact. If VAR is going to be a success then that’s the kind of thing that a ref should be able to review.
