Regardless of what people think of xhaka as a player, he is going to start under Emery.
Think from here on we should show support for him on the pitch.
Can't really argue with any of it. Interesting that it seems like he's been pretty careful to not say he's actually sorry for his actions, only how they were perceived. Wonder if that could still be a point of tension in the future.
Can't complain about that. Respect to him.
He's still facking shiiiiit though.

I don't consider (paraphrase): 'I'm sorry that you misunderstood me' to be an actual apology.
How about: "I'm sorry for putting my personal feelings about being substituted above the needs of the team when we were behind and chasing the game and exiting the pitch in a leisurely fashion".
You can't punish many fans for the actions of a few trolls either, I mean, it's 2019, welcome to Social Media and how long have you been a professional football player now in the celebrity limelight?
That is a half-arsed excuse ridden apology if I've ever seen one, it is testament to his inability to admit fault / accept his own mistakes like we see so regularly on the pitch.

He has nothing to apologise for. He may well not be the greatest midfielder in the league but he tries his best. If that isn’t good enough that is something to take up with the man that chooses to start him.
The man is doing his job to the best of his ability. No one regardless of how much they earn or how you feel about them should go to work and receive the abuse and threats he does.
Those “fans” should be disgusted with themselves and hopefully the true supporters back the team from here on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well it's a bone of contention, when just apologising would have closed the book on it.
Ironically I imagine the type of fans who demand an apology would be the fans who caused this all in the first place, whereas the more reasonable fans who might actually deserve an apology, probably wouldn't think he should have to give one.

So basically he admitted he can't handle the pressure of being a celebrity-footballer which is admittance that he shouldn't be captain either, if he had any decency he would be honest with himself about the real reasons this all came about and resign the captaincy. Oh and apologise for what he actually did on Sunday and mean it.
We need to move on. When xhaka is on the pitch, he should get our full support. Save all the criticism for after the game.
I will say it again but channels like AFTV where there are certain personalities who constantly hammer the same players every week have contributed to this
Yeah he should and fans should never boo their own players at games, that's just embarrassing but who is really to blame for fans finally losing patience with players? Obviously it's the inept staff who keep picking them to play.

Picking him is down to thr manager. The reality is that we are not blessed with great options in MF. There is no obvious replacement for Xhaka currently in the squad and before people say Torreira, he has been average this season also (yes I know he has been playing as an advanced position?)
I just find booing your own players as criminal. We have done it before to a number of players
It's a bit pointless, the players picked him as captain, they still want him as captain so it's not going to change.

It's shocking & disgusting how Torreira's talents/potential are being wasted by Emery...
Surely Torreira should be at the base as the DM protecting the CB's and snapping at the heels making tackles in tight spaces. We can all see this, why can't Emery... Then it's between Guen & Willock as a deep lying playmaker to help link the defence to midfield/attack... Willock out of those 3 has the most ability to play a more advanced role and should compete with Ceballos for it.
He's the same level as xhaka
Torreira is better than Xhaka and still has potential to improve but Emery is not giving him a chance, he's starting League Cup games alongside Ozil.
Yeah based on this season Guendo is the only one who has earned a spot. I'd like to see Ceballos and Torreira get chances to play deeper, but they haven't exactly shown much to put them ahead of Xhaka right now.
Xhaka is just the constant in a poor team
They've both been equally cak
I'd like to see Torreira DM, Guen doing what he already is (Deep Playmaker) and helping out with the defending too since he's good at that. Then Willock/Ceballos/Smith-Rowe more advanced.
Guendo can make good tackles at the half way line but any further back and he just panics
