Thought Sterling was excellent playing a lone striker in a ten man system where he had to help out when they didn't have the ball and be the main man when they did. Scored two and was very unlucky not to make it a hat trick when his freekick at the end struck the bar. Tactically he was excellent which is why Aguero came off and he stayed on when they went down to ten.

Sterling received plenty of unwarranted sh-t from the media, it isn’t just foreign back players.

There’s plenty of racism in this country at the moment sadly.

Rooney and Beckham got all sorts of stick from the media
Xhaka has been vilified by the Arsenal fans

Firstly, calling out the City fan for that article is uncalled for. Mendy is crap - the reason Sterling was not called out the same way is because he has 'credit in the bank' so to speak, as he is generally one of their best players. As for Otamendi, City fans criticise him all the time.

As for your point in general, there is maybe a point to it. Ive always found it strange how Pogba is called out constantly by the media for his lack of professionalism and at times has even been called a cancer at the club, despite absolutely zero evidence of this being the case other than flash haircuts and dance moves.

Contrast with Phil Jones who also dyes his hair and covers himself in tattoos (not that there is anything wrong with this), yet is viewed as some kind of warrior in England despite spending most of his career on the treatment table (and interestingly has not once been accused of faking it like Pogba has these past 3 months)

I wouldn't ever call these people racists but I have always thought it's possible there is some subconscious bias from the likes of Souness.

I would say Aurier gets stick because he's crap...

There is definitely an element to this and see it with pogba and martial for example and no media campaign against players who are English like Lingard who has been awful for a while and it wasn’t long ago Rashford was struggling but again you always hear nonsense about martial for example. Like this season he’s hardly played and when he has he’s often scored or assisted but if he doesn’t score or assist he’s lambasted.

Sympathy from who?

Lingard rightly took some grief for his holiday antics. Ashley Cole was criticised regarding his 'only 50K' comment, Sterling was England's scapegoat, until he spoke out against racism. Since then he's been heralded as a saint, and was even up for SPOTY.

Then there’s the manager abuse the likes of graham Taylor got

Football managers and players come in for lots of unwarranted abuse,
People might want to perceive this as racism but I’ve not yet seen a headline similar to that thing in Italy the other week

Wayne Rooney probably got more stick in the media than any other player I’ve ever seen in this country. Your points are a load of bollox imo

Beckham and Taylor got abuse because they were the easy scapegoats for our failure and going out of tournaments. The abuse many black players get are often based on nothing other than being black.
