Beirut - The Gulag Orkestar

------------------------------------------------------
Just had a listen to a couple of their tunes. Feels like a forerunner to Public Service Broadcasting.

Who are fantastic
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Every Valley was a great album from Public Service Broadcasting.

Beirut were a good shout, not listened to them for years though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Discovered Beirut only about three years ago but did get to see them in Manchester last April.

Some people with decent taste in music
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who'd have thought! 🤣

Some class albums have been mentioned on this thread. Shout out to Arcade Fire mentioned above, top band. Same with these honourable mentions; Primal Scream, Leftfield and of course the Roses, great bands. 👍

I think as TOOR said, if you're stranded then you don't want to be hitting too much Indy, you'd be slitting ya wrists after a week. 🤣

Reasoning

1 - a real movie of an album. Great storytelling.
2 - a real upbeat singalong album of war time hits plus a few CnD originals.
3 - another one full of round the campfire songs
4 - laid back funk, perfect for chilling out to
5 - one for the dark lonely nights. The one to die to.

Robb... SOAD is a great shout.
Not saying all of these are my all time favourites, but I’d have to go for:

QOTSA - Songs for the Deaf (greatest band of all time)
Tool - Fear Inoculum (it’s that damn good)
Tenacious D - Tenacious D (need some comedy right?)
RATM - RATM (ugh!)
Deftones - Koi No Yokan (my fav Deftones album)

The idea would be to choose 5 albums that cover all moods. Otherwise it is just list your 5 favourite albums.

I'll probably be boring and say they would all be Manics ones. However, for the purpose of this I'll do one from each artist.

1. Generation Terrorists - Manics (too long and bloated in truth but a really ambitious and raucous first album)
2. The Bends - Radiohead (top album - most of them could have been singles - in fact a lot were)
3. Kula Shaker - K (some great tunes and I do a mean karaoke version of 'Hey Dude'.
4. The Verve - Urban Hymns (filled with top songs and Lucky Man is also in my karaoke repertoire!)
5. Echobelly - On (a blast from the indie mid 90s past)
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Diafol, please do more YouTube videos - put some karaoke in them - I would contribute to your Patreon if you do that 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Leave it with me. We're due to get some new video editing software at work soon so I'll see what I can do.

The judgment night soundtrack is banging. And the movie too - impossible to find on any steaming sites though
