Smalltown boy is a banger of a song tbf. The video is good too. Very dated but a snapshot of its time and bathes the viewer in nostalgia for a very strange time in England’s history

Has anyone selected James Blunt yet?

My step-father goes through phases with music when he thinks he's discovered somebody that nobody has heard of. The James Blunt period was excruciating. The Tracy Chapman period wasn't as bad as I can actually listen to her but it lasted for two years! He's now trying to tell me about Eric Clapton, who's been a favourite of mine for years.

He's worse with football. He's told me he discovered Minamino on Youtube and he's the next superstar and going to slot straight into the team up front. I asked him who of the front three he was going to replace. He said all of them, he's like all three rolled into one.

Whenever he thinks he has discovered something, it is the best of all time.

But yeah, James Blunt.

We'd be fine with football offline - much easier to gauge people's reaction, show some humility and generally laugh things off.

I reckon this is mostly rock/pop oriented, so I won't list any Wagner, LvB or Miles Davis. And this was painful:

Narrowing down to 5 albums is difficult, but these were life-changers.

I don't know. My best mate...well only mate, is a United fan. Things get heated. Although he is one of the Brexit Tommy Robinson's, so I avoid getting into debates with him. When I've had a few, I can't help it.
