Some bands were great in their era but didn't age well. I include Stone Roses in that. Saw them live a few years back and it was still great and all but not the same. Same with Definitely Maybe by Oasis. Was my favourite album during the 90s but it hasn't aged well at all.

Then you have the Beatles who created music in the 60s and 70s and much of their music stands the test of time.

Smiths also.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oasis couldn’t hold a candle to The Smiths IMO

When you list to tracks like “Death of a disco dancer” or “The headmaster ritual” and then compare it to some of the stuff Oasis churned out, makes them look pretty tragic
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, my mate does this thing where he has to compare two bands to make one of them crap and uses these two bands most to do so. Personally I like both, they're both completely different, different eras, different music and you'd listen to them in different moods.

I was obsessed with Oasis in the 90s but I can't say I ever think to myself, I'd like to listen to an Oasis album. It meant something to me then but I don't really relate to it now. Much of the lyrics made me feel like a party, getting away from boredom and having some fun. Now I'm a bore so don't want to do that crap. Whereas I could listen to the Smith's for hours.

I think as you get older you appreciate bands like the Smith's much more. I wrote them off in the 90s as boring, dull and dry. It wasn't until my mate kept banging on about them that I finally gave them another go, in the past few years.

Smiths had amazing tunes, oasis too, though they’ve aged worse. Love them both.

I still listen to Oasis quite a bit in fairness. The obsession with bands like that does hold Mcr back though

Oasis are about the only britpoo I listen to, sonetines the underated Dodgy, Kula shaker, blurs britpop era I wouldn’t buy, they got better when they did song 2, parklife is massively overrated.

Not really a fan of either, bluetones always sounded bland to me. OCs had a couple of great tunes though.

Mansuns attack if the grey lantern is class.

Yeah, I only liked a few of their songs. Tried to listen to their full album and couldn't get through it.

The album that bitter sweet is on I was a bit disappointed in, bit depressing.

Saw Richard Ashcroft in Belfast last year when he was backing up Liam Gallagher. He was outstanding. He made the night to be honest, as good as Liam Gallagher was.

No way. Urban Hymns? It's one of the best albums of the 90s.
