Pay the money, don't be held to ransom. Must he a dreadful job actually signing a player.
He looked pretty average last night. Their asking price is ludicrous.

Fair enough if true. £68m should by you a proven top class player. Cant continue to be held to ransom.

The problem is United have set the precedence that we'll pay whatever clubs demand if we show the slightest bit of interest in players.
You'd think if Fernandes actually wanted to come to United, he might have said something but nothing from him. Don't think he cares either way which begs the question - should we be signing him at all?
I mean we need to bolster our midfield, no question about that. Catch 22 really..
Sporting are tough negotiators. And they’re probably saying that because we spent £80m on the English Jeremy Mathieu that £68m is more than fair.

My impression of Fernandes is that he is just very respectful of sporting. Everything I have read from him is that he will focus on doing his best for sporting whenever he is there.
With the state United are in, what have United got to offer to make a player want to come to us? Previously, players would kill to work under Fergie. We were winning trophies left, right and centre. The only thing we can offer to someone to play for us is money.

Yeah exactly, transfers are a pain in the hole when you need and want the player and its daily in the media.
Would imagine you will sign him, but in January with so many games on the horizon you need to get them in as early as possible.

Makes you wonder how clubs below us manage to sign players then
Or are you talking about big name signings?
Either way i don’t think the club will be held to ransom over this signing, esp as no other club appear to be interested
Ed and Matt Judge couldn’t negotiate for a quickie with a brass in a brothel, so this news isn’t the least bit surprising.
He looked pretty average last night. Their asking price is ludicrous.
------------------------------------------------
Their asking price isn't based on such a small sample size though.
The club is a joke. Negotiations and bids should have been done prior to Jan so players could come in early. We have let a lot of players go, we have a lot of injuries and the midfield is not good enough even when fully fit. Od course clubs hold us to ransom, they know we are desperate and we have Matt judge doing the negotiating. There have been plenty of stories about his approach. He may be 3experienced kn corporate and M&A deals but football needs more finess and understanding
I think there's some confusion when it comes to converting currencies, especially when it comes to the BBC.
You could see it last night in the video with Darren Fletcher. He was talking about £ when he should've been talking about €.
If we offer them a deal worth around €70 million, I think it'll be enough.
Apparently we're trying to out in stupid Adonis again like CL and ballon d'or. It's lunacy and disrespects Sporting undedstanding of the game.

Oddly I'm with Ed on this. There has to be some negotiation, the selling club shouldn't be saying you have to pay what we want. And he's good but not in that bracket imo.

I don’t see any problem with trying to out in Adonis if it helps secure a player with a great reputation for distributing free Bakker flaming into midfield.

If United are sticking to that, they're never going to sign him.
The bonuses should be more achievable and performance related. They need to suit both clubs. Appearances and goals plus qualification for the Champions League and then additional bonuses for major trophies won.
