What can Ed be blamed for since coming in?

He appointed LVG and Jose who were relatively succesful, and Ole who most of the fans back (apparently)

He has delivered signings for each of his managers, sometimes at great expense.

Forgive me, but as far as club execs go, he is far from the worst when you look at what City, Chelsea, Juve, Barca, PSG execs have been found guilty of in recent years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They’ve all been found guilty of overseeing some success in recent years...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

City have cheated FFP. Chelsea cheated the transfer rules, Juve were done for match fixing, Barca tried to low ball La Liga to dodge tax, PSG have also cheated FFP and bases recruitment on ethnicity.

Woodward overpaying on occasion or playing hardball in a transfer negotiation is hardly bad by comparison.

Yes. Since I came back you have done nothing but slag Woodward, no matter the situation. However, you now concede he has a tough job.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That its a tough job was never in question you tw@t

Run along now and get some rest

You need to be up bright and early to bang your "I'm the muppet that supports Ed" drum

Apparently we're trying to out in stupid Adonis again like CL and ballon d'or. It's lunacy and disrespects Sporting undedstanding of the game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But sporting get to over value the player and we just pay it?

It’s a two way street. If sporting think he’s worth an obscene amount of money (which we all know in reality he is not) the sensible thing is to put add ons into the deal. If he’s as good as Sporting believe he is, and value him at, then they should have no problem letting him prove his worth and achieve the add ons through performing to the high level they are punting him at.

Sporting shouldn’t have it every which way. And I wouldn’t want united just to pay whatever clubs demand just to sign players quicker. That would be a stupid way to run any club.

Quite right. So glad more and more see it this way.

If you get involved in haggling and wind up not signing the player you're in for, then it is clearly a waste of time and it is right to question the negotiation process. Either try to find a compromise (and there will nearly always be one available if you come into negotiations with a realistic valuation of the player) or move on, if said compromise isn't available. We spend weeks on end chasing one player, and only ever one player. It puts huge pressure on to get the deal done. And if it isn't done, then the question as to why so much time was wasted will always be asked

It isn’t illegal to think Ed has a tough job.

You’d think so judging some reactions on here
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope Woy does it to try and wind me up (it doesnt) because otherwise, he is completely unable to look at things objectively.

How long do you negotiate / compromise before you move on?

What do you think happens to the price when united come in for your player with just 2 weeks to go?

posted on 18/1/20

United came in with 3 weeks to go. And they will be well aware of the price. So now they need to decide to pay up, negotiate sensibly or move on. They paid the asking price for Maguire after negotiating for two months. Surely it must have been clear during negotiations that Leicester weren't dropping the price. They publically said so. A lot of wasted time. I hope that isn't the case again here, that is all

1 - We dont even know if we bid.

2 - If we have bid, how do ou know we arent negotiating sensibly?

3 - Reports were that Leicester wanted £90m, with Ed paying £80m, that shows the benefit of negotiating.

A lot of other reports also said their asking price was 80 million, they were under no pressure to sell and United have them the full asking price. For someone who seems very interested in when a source becomes credible, you are quite happy to use whichever source you choose to suit your argument 👍

I'm just countering your point that we paid what Leicester wanted after 2 months negotiations. We may have saved £10m. A great saving.

But glass half full / half empty. Matters not to me.

The latest I’ve read is that United are unwilling to meet Sporting’s valuation because they feel it will make us look like we pay over the odds and will jeopardise our chances of getting Sancho and Maddison for a fair price in the summer.

You can’t make this sh-t up, is Ed this f-cking stupid? Does he not realise that damage was done long ago.

posted on 18/1/20

They are just developing the story because they have been proven incorrect upto now on the deal. It's all guess work mate.

If we are interested but are reluctant to meet the asking price it is far more likely that we dont value the player that high or we have funds put aside for other targets in the Summer.

Despite what some think, we dont have a bottomless pit of money

All football clubs are run as businesses tbf. If they weren't, they'd go under sooner, rather than later. It's just that out football club aren't getting the football side of things right, through how we go about our business and how the club is run from top to bottom

I couldn’t give a damn if we save 10m. Am I hearing this right? How does this affect your bank account. The fact is we will have to watch Lingard struggle to make an assist! It only benefits the glazers. This is the story state of united. We are run like a business and only one that’s responsible to its shareholders! They don’t care about us fans
----------------------------------------------------------------------

£10m saved on Maguire and £5m on AWB paid for James. Does that help you?

This is the moron who gave Jose 20 mill after sacking him less than a year after giving him a contract extension

Then paid a world record fee for harry Maguire a year after refusing to buy him for Jose
