One flu over the keepers net

It looks like a lot of local papers will be casualties of the virus with the deteriorating quality and switch to other forms of digital news I'm spending less and less time reading the local rag.
How long will it be before football clubs would rather communicate through vloggers, internet forums and their own digital media. What retirement present would you suggest for the bald one at the BEN I'm thinking a note pad and pencil to remind him how his job was done properly before he arrived.

still waiting for you EFL. It seems ridiculous that no decision has been made yet. The cost of staging outstanding games should be enough for the EFL to know it isn't practical. £500,000. is what one club is quoting. Does the EFL want to push clubs into administration?

It's a ridiculous situation. The decision should have been made by the EFL weeks ago and clubs would have been able to plan for the future.

No worries swie they haven't got ballot papers ready yet for the league and not even thought about the wording for the agenda's of the changing regulations meetings before they vote on that.
At this rate we'll be in pre season for next season without a squad before they sort out the mess they are creating.
Curiously still no mention from the EFL of how L1 and 2 clubs are to survive without paying customers being allowed to turn up and watch a game.

posted on 28/5/20

It wouldn't surprise me if that was correct.

Paying customers seem to be secondary to finishing the league to the EFL and some clubs that have a vested interest in finishing the games. You can bet that we will be relegated regardless. We have several teams that hold a grudge against us for the conditions that were forced upon us and then not having to play them with a squad full of youths. It rattled them that they had assumed that they may not be able to take three points from us as easy as the clubs that played us early doors did.

Cretins the lot of them.

Just to add, If Tranmere is relegated, without the season being finished, I hope that they go to law. If they did and won the case, It would then set the president for us to have the same judgement as we are mathematically able to avoid relegation.

Tower FM will cease to be
Anybody who asks when we eventually play will get blue parrot jokes so be prepared.

Is it EFL voting day today do we have a live late night TV results program with a swingometer or is it announced by the olde town crier.

Just what is holdindig up proceedings? They couldn't organise a party in a brewery.

On to the Premier League, do they know something that we don't or have I missed a vital update on social distancing? Games are almost set to start and I keep hearing announcements that we should all keep to the 2 Mts social distancing rule. Is there a separate rule for Premier League players and staff?

I must admit that I don't always watch the updates from our government. The primary reason for that is because it has got so many crucial details wrong that I have almost lost faith in it. I did hear that some sports could restart but I didn't hear anything regarding contact sports.

The main topic of news is of course regarding Dominic Cummings. I would like to know what is so special about the Premier league if the government has given the green light to proceed with games of football, even if they are to be played behind closed doors. Another four players tested positive with the virus yesterday.

Please feel free to enlighten me if you have the answers

Here you go get your abacus out and shake it all about to make up your own estimated timescales
https://www.efl.com/news/2020/may/efl-statement-board-update/

posted on 29/5/20

The abacus says sometime in the future but the estimate is not definitive.

How many times have we read articles telling us when we might know?

What we've had is the classic cart before the horse at the EFL
The EFL wanted voting on ups and downs decisions on players contracts testing training and by .gov.uk to be made before there are regulations and rules in place to support it all by doing any voting before this it could have been null and voided.

The penny is finally beginning to drop with the EFL so on Monday the first day of June it might be wise to start a new sweep of how many meetings and votes from the the 1st June will it take to resolve all the mess be careful with your choice because without the income several clubs may cease trading before the definitive and final outcome which will cause havoc.

Don't forget the separate sweep for when will fans be allowed back allowing clubs to generate much needed income to cover the most popular dates we have special guests Guy Fawkes Father Christmas A Valentine and the Easter Bunny standing by ready to present the prizes for this one.

I see that three of the governments most senior scientific advisors have come out to say that they think that relaxing of rules of the lockdown is premature. The rate of infections is still only just under the target figure of 5,000 new infections each day. They are worried that relaxing the rules now may create another spike in the figures causing many more deaths,

It's mind-boggling. I thought that was what the government wanted to avoid at any costs. It seems that politics takes precedence again.

I wonder if the EFL are listening to the government or the scientist. Either way, I expect it to put its own selfish wishes first. At the end of the day, whatever the clubs come up with will not be universally accepted by all.

Tomorrows is the big day for sport behind closed doors going on the telly box.
Tin hats at the ready as the wasted millions and failure of years of high speed broadband projects is highlighted by irate sports fans which will only result in Huawei being debated again as a diversion and more money being flushed down the pan.

The lockdown was too late, should have been 2 weeks early and had the army on the street pointing guns at people out who shouldn't. Might have been out of it by now. Now you can do what you like. The government have got this badly wrong.

If you thought iFollow was bad wait until the EFL get some games on

Is there going to be extra training and a longer pre season in order to train players not to spit and blow noses onto the pitch.
As for substitutions what's the score with those can you swap out players as many times as you want to protect players if anybody coughs or looks a bit hot and flushed.
I think the EFL may need another change of rules meeting and another vote before the big shall we play or abandon the season vote.

According to a senior scientist on the box this morning, my figure of 5,000 new cases of the virus each day is actually 8,000. Sorry about the mistake but it just goes to show that it's far from safe to open up lockdown. As for football, I've said it all before so no need to rake those old coals once again.

We just need te EFL to get real and not to follow the bad example of the Premier League.

Enjoy your weekend guys and don't forget to follow the rules on social distancing if you venture out.

I will be out for a two-hour walk this afternoon. I have to do it each day to work off the scones that I baked yesterday. Buttered with Raspberry jam (not the usual strawberry) and topped off with clotted cream with a cup of milky coffee, is just too much to resist. I have just taken my home-baked loaf out of the oven. The smell permeating through the lodge is a delight. i will leave you with that thought.

The championship to return on 20th june. No testing or return to training in league one. No choice but to end the season as it is.

Remember under the new EFL thinking policy you must put the cart before the horse.
Until the EFL decides if there's to be a wage / spending cap to aid recover who will risk signing players or spending anything for fear of overspending and waiting six months to be punished.

So, when will we be hearing from the EFL confirming our relegation to league two?
Three glasses of bubbly as below for the nearest guess.

Please note the t&c. The prize will be exactly as above and any complaints will not be entertained.

Macclesfield Town has been issued with further misconduct charges the clock has been ticking at Tobias's old club for some time now.

The efl are good at kicking clubs who are struggling financially rather than doing something to help them.

We are close to having the options for voting available I think we can squeeze an extra meeting in to discuss the voting procedure based on the Eurovision method we'll have some votes live via video link some from a phone in sadly this means we may have to delay the results program as we expect several ballot papers to be lost or delayed in the post from clubs who have not paid their broadband and phone bill and been cut off.

Perhaps we need to think about another extra meeting a delay and another change of regulations and more voting in order to merge two seasons.

posted on 2/6/20

As I read the article on voting, it seems to me that all EFL leagues will vote for a solution. Am I right in thinking that all votes will count towards the overall solution for all clubs and not just the different leagues' independent votes?

I suppose that would be the fairest way to sort out this mess as it seems ridiculous that all leagues within the EFL could end up with a different solution.

Clarity please.

Everybody gets to vote on the regulation changes and individual leagues vote on their own in the to play or not to play vote.

*Subject to change depending on who comes up with the silliest proposals I think I could be the winner on this one.
