Not having a pop or anything but I welcome this news.
Never rated Coutinho. Always flatters to deceive by being bang average than smashing one in from 30 yards every one in 15 games.
Delighted united steered clear, as a few seasons ago this is the type of signing we’d have been all over.
I was hoping we’d go back in for him this summer. He was excellent when we played in the CL against Bayern
Don’t like the thought of it tbh, Mount has been class this season and although may not be as good we have several players who potentially can be.
Coutinho has averaged 19 league starts a year over the last 4 seasons. He’s the potential to be a great player but unless it’s on the cheap I’m not too fussed at all.

Will take up a sizeable chunk of your wage bill. Plus hefty transfer fee if permanent.
Persevering with CHO, Mount and Pulisic would bear more fruit long term. You can start to see the green shoots at United after this seasons perseverance with youth I think, which bodes well going forwards.
Thought you’d have a similar situation at Chelsea tbh, but Coutinho and Ziyechs arrivals will hamper the younger players development imo.

Mount is absolute mince compared to Coutinho.
You’ll will see this if he signs and football ever starts back up again.

FFS, Mounts a kid in his 1st season in the PL. He's nowhere near his full potential, yet you feel compelled to compare him to a 27 year old seasoned professional!!

I don't think Coutinho is a bad player by any means but Keano's comments pretty much sum up my feelings about any proposed move.
The Ziyech signing is one I think is needed, bearing in mind we're about to lose Willian and Pedro, leaving CHO and Pulisic as our only two orthodox wide men.
We have other positions of a higher priority to sort out first!
Ziyech and Coutinho are really similar players in terms of what they bring. (Coutinho better dribbler, Ziyech better long range passing).
They would both just get into each others way

yeah makes no sense, our youngsters have been even better than uts or involved more, faired well in the cl until bayern and had some great performances this year. Ziyech alone should be fine, but coutinho aswell and we will start to lose game time for mount etc who have been impressive this year.
Mount is not 1/1000 the player Coutinho is.
Furrrk mount of to the championship where he belongs and sign Coutinho and play this:
Kante Gilmore
Ziyech Coutinho Pulisic
Abraham
wahl no offence, but you have zero knowledge on football so leave it to the adults.

Poor Wahl - clubless since Jose was sacked!
I like Coutinho to be fair but don't think he fits and as mentioned by many he gets in the way of our younger guys.
If we're writing off RLC due to injury etc and getting rid off Barkley then he can provide competition for Mount in the 10 role. Can also be used on the left but I'd prefer pace in the wide areas.
You’re suggesting to not sign a world class player like Coutinho because we have mason mount. I think you’re the one with no football knowledge
For once I agree with Wahl. Mount isn't at the level of Coutinho yet.
Mount was good for about a month at the start of the season but since then hasn’t met the required standard. Young players are hit and miss and he’s just not good enough. I know people like to imagine he’s got the potential to be as good as Lampard was but he’s never going to be that good.

Nobody is saying he is, but frank lampard at 20 wasnt as good as he was at 25...surely you can see the point people are making.
Mount, RLC, Ziyech, Cho all young and in similar positions.

He's been fantastic this year. When hes not scoring does not mean he hasn't played well. he's had poor games of course, but on the whole he's been very impressed.
Mount > lampard at the same age
If it was up to wahl he would have never bought lampard at west ham

Come back in two years time when he's fully found his feet and started maturing as a player and some might discuss it with you, not me personally, but some people might.
In the meantime keep collecting pictures for your Jose photo album and concern yourself over which is the next team you'll be supporting when your idol ventures back into football again!
