So lets just clarify this. Do you think that majority of Liverpool fans wanted Rafa out?
--------------------------------------------------------
I may not be as old as Sandy but I've been around the block for many a long year, mainly in a career that's bought me in contact with thousands of people (literally) in a mainly male dominated environment with people from all corners of the United Kingdom, where football was traditionally always the cornerstone of banter and rivalry.
As you can imagine a high percentage of those were Yoonited and Liverpool fans, many of them being what I used to call Liverpool And supporters because in conversation, if asked who they supported, were Liverpool and Ipswich, Liverpool and Lincoln, Liverpool and Luton, Liverpool and Plymouth, Liverpool and ‘insert name of team’ fans.
Those type of fan in my experience all wanted rid of Benitez and the next big names on the block installed. Social media and sites like this tended to reinforce that split in opinion. It was only the proper Scouse lads that I tended to find, to be loyal to Benitez.
You may point out to them not being true fans, which is true in itself, but it’s those fans that contribute to Liverpool being renown as a big club by anyone who’s interesting in promoting Liverpool that way. You can’t dismiss them as glory hunters but then evidence them as Liverpool being a massive club.
You may be a true Liverpool supporter yourself and interact with proper Liverpool supporters but there’s also a part of your fan base out there that you don’t come into contact with – maybe it’s a case that these are the ones who I use as a barometer, rather than the section base that you do!
One person told Chelsea fans that they'd love Coutinho. You have an issue with that which is absolutely fine.
------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure I would like him, however that's not what most of us are saying, which is we don't believe he's the type of player we need at this moment in time, over strengthening in other positions.
It appears to me that this being interpreted as, we think Coutinho is rubbish and not good enough for Chelsea, which is not the case in question here!

GT having a nightmare here. Why is everyone even bothering to comment on him when his original comment on rafa was this "To be fair, Rafa called them out for what they were so I have no real issue with Chelsea fans not being happy with him.".
He goes on about opinions of all liverpool fans when he says he shares rafas opinions of chelsea fans one and all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How are the two linked in any way? I have given my opinion. I have at no pointed tarred all with having the same opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So what about rafas comments about Chelsea fans do you agree with?

Why do you not think he’s been a success from the LW position since leading Liverpool?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yiu mean at Barca? Not sure really, he's not the first though.
Either way his best football was at Liverpool and he certainly wasn't in a free role
I dunno. I'm all for bringing in more experienced players to give the young ones players to properly compete with, but when it comes to midfield where we're so stacked with options in the first team + youth levels anyone else coming in needs to be unquestionably world class & Coutinho (IMO) is pretty much as close as you can be to elite level without being elite level, if that makes sense
I might fit in tactically, but I struggle to see how the dynamics would work everywhere else. He'd come in the highest paid player without really justifying it - he wouldn't be the best player by a great margin, he's not won jack in his career so far, he's not got any resale value, he's no commercial cash cow (Pulisic destroys him there), etc... how's he earning that money?

This already reminds me of when we had Rafa and Liverpool fans suddenly loved to praise us (or Rafa) when we were playing well and any criticism of Rafa they descended like a pack of wolves to tell Chelsea fans they were wrong.
On Coutinho, he’s a player I never used to rate that highly until his last 18 months at Liverpool. Only then, for me, did he start developing consistency both game to game and within the 90 minutes as well (before then i’d find he had great moments of quality in games but almost disappear inbetween).
I wouldn’t be against the signing, but there are some question marks. He basically almost fulfils a similar role that Ziyech brings. I think having both we then have a slight headache on how to fit both into the side, compounded by also continuing to assimilate players like CHO, Mount and RLC (if this is still a priority for us). But then again if we do have a first XI that brings the best out of Ziyech and Coutinho..it’ll be very strong.
It’s a signing slightly against our recent ethos but at a relatively cheap price for his quality and as he’s still just 27 (turning 28) I’d be more for than against
----------------------------------------------------------------------
no you lot just gave rafa dogs abuse for no justified reason
---------------------------------------------
Called us plastic & categorically stated he'd never manage "a club like us".
Whether the abuse was necessary or practical is a valid question, but that's a very good reason to reject a manager. Not only disrespected us (and showed no remorse once appointed), but by taking the job showed no respect for himself.

Hasn’t impressed at Bayern enough for them to warrant signing him either...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I dont think them not taking up the option means much.
He has 9 goals and 8 assists in 1800 league and CL minutes. That's good numbers.
I suspect it's more about needing toreplace Ribery properly with someone like Sane.

For sure, not sure what the option was though. If it's £80m+ I can see them looking at other priorities esoecially with Lewa getting on a bit.
17 goals or assists in the equivalent of 20 games is VERY good.

Chelsea have other priorities as well. I think Coutinho is a very good player and he'd be welcome by me. I think for that fee we should be looking to strengthen our front line first and then defence. We can't go into next season without a new striker.
