Yesterday I had a long chat with a mate whos a season ticket holder at Villa. He is very against behind closed doors at neutral venues and I don't blame him as they have 10 games left and 6 are at home.

As others have said all integrity goes out of the window.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well he's just going to have to suck it up like everybody else. Things will not be the same for the foreseeable and people have to get on with life, despite the changes they have to make.

Integrity? I suppose your option of keeping the integrity of the season is to void it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why on earth should he suck it up?

When he bought his season ticket it wasn't so he could watch 19 not 13 Prem homes games.

The desperation some have to get it finished anyway we can is frightening. Lets do it properly or not at all.

The thing is it doesn't look like it's going to be safe to do so for months. The French, Belgians and Dutch governments have already ruled that, I don't see why it would be any different here. Even the Germans are having a set back after lifting restrictions.

Imo the government should be taking it out of the hands of the PL but we know how hopeless they are. Boris will probably see the premier league getting started when European leagues have closed as some type of vindication for Brexit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which is fine, as the initial plans are for June, which can be adjusted or changed completely if things don't work out.

Why would the government take it out of the hands of the PL? "Here good sirs of the PL, we're letting all other businesses start up, when safe to do so but because some bitter internet football fans are whining, you're not going to be starting up. Good lads."

You can’t have a conversation with them. Their arguments are based on their desperation to finish a season not on lives.

I think if they had won the league more recently they may have been more self aware.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It is a fine balance.

There is a way that football could perhaps continue but its then a question of whether its right & fair onthe players & staff & others involved and whether its t e right thing to do.

While many would love to see football again and it would boost the morale of millions you also have to remember that football is a big target for the haters - the uproar from players not taking cuts (even though this only benefits their clubs/owners), being singled out above any other sport or big business. A restart could potentially be a PR disaster.

Football is singled out as being different when it should not. Imagine if you employers demanded you to come to work quarantine from your family for weeks & weeks just to get your non essential work done. This is expected of footballers simply because they earn a lot but they would have every right to refuse.

Personally, i do not like the plan to do this in a small number of secure stadiums. Behind closed doors undermines the integrity to a degree but neutral grounds undermines it to such an extent that it just seems like playing football for the sake of playing. I would not expect any relegation-threatened club to agree to complete the season it in this way, especially if the alternative is to void which other major leagues are now doing/looking at.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I feel you've wasted a lot of words and reasoning here on a wum who only uses this site to get digs in at liverpool supporters whenever possible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am happy to see Liverpool win the title- undoubtedly deserve it and not against them being given it without the games being played if a PPG scenario can be agreed.

My team loses out if the season isn’t finished. I am desperate for football to return WHEN SAFE TO DO SO.

Perhaps there is a reason all Liverpool fans want it concluded whereas others have a range of opinions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is what Liverpool fans have said, when it is safe to do so. If that is in June then great.

Because he has no other choice.

Let's continue with the plan of the PL, FA, UEFA, the PFA, the clubs and any sensible fan to continue the season when it's safe to do so, with June the target and reassess in June if this is not possible.

Haha, there it is! You're so worried about the minute chance of a void you want to play on regardless.

I don't think voiding is a realistic scenario. Liverpool get the title, the top 4 get champions league and let's try again next August/September when we may have actually got to grips with the virus.

Why is it 'us v them'? You have just stated your preferred option exactly matches what many Liverpool fans have said. "football to return WHEN SAFE TO DO SO".
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Because every LFC fan advocates any approach that declares them as winners regardless of how the relegated teams/promotion teams are treated in this scenario.

Of course every Liverpool fan advocates the approach that gives them the title, as do most non-Liverpool fans from what I can tell. I'm not sure why this is a negative? Relegation is a separate issue and if the season can't continue, then it will need decided on also.

I just don't see how it can be back in June. People are forgetting it's not just the footballers who will be at these games. It's the staff, the officials, the camera crews, the stadium operators, etc...

Surely all it takes is one person to get ill and then everyone that's been in contact with them is self isolating for 2 weeks.

Has anyone said they want the season started whilst it is unsafe?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some people just like to create narratives like this. It's bizarre.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And some people blindly want a league finished even if it isn’t feasible to do so. It’s bizarre.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The feasibility or lack of will become apparent by 25 May. Until then, stop posting comments that don’t fit in with what I want to happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Amended.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bizarre comment.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think people are forgetting that. I'm certainly not, since I've been going into work this hole time and I'm gradually seeing more people coming back and traffic on the increase during rush hour. Businesses are starting to reopen and many have pencilled in June to reopen. I don't see why the PL should be any different and in fact it's likely safer than most places, considering the money they have and the planned testing every week.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course every Liverpool fan advocates the approach that gives them the title, as do most non-Liverpool fans from what I can tell. I'm not sure why this is a negative? Relegation is a separate issue and if the season can't continue, then it will need decided on also.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

WHich is why many see a them and us. LFC thinking only about themselves with little comprehension of the plight of those potentially relegated or those potentially denied promotion. Understandable to a degree but a real lack of objectivity from the vast majority and anyone who applies any objectivity is accused of having an anti LFC agenda.
